I was told 100 student increase in Vilas during Fall enrollment. That’s unheard of in Vilas 10 head increase was a celebration in the past mostly shrinking for past 20 years. Summer residents stayed on or upgraded to bigger lake homes decided to leave the urban and city pandemic areas. It will be interesting to see if the migration is temporary , shrinks or expands. Now saying life should be back to normal by summer lots of vaccines to go around. I suspect some will hate the Northwoods, some will love it others take it or leave it. Imo more will come back than stay simply more jobs south. Time will tell.

I dont know . Peopke dont need a office any more . It was moving fast that way already covid sent it in to overdrive . If I owned a office park right now I would be real nervous. It is never going back to brick and morter 9to 5 for the masses .

i think it will end up in a more hybrid scenario where work from home increases but not the dominant fashion we are in. In many places like financial services and the big cities can’t wait to get back in, traveling to see clients, etc. I’m not sold that this 9-10 month sample of remote is the wave of the future.

Eighth place. Congrats. The ten states with the highest alcohol consumption per capita (in gallons) are:

New Hampshire (4.76 gallons)

Washington DC (3.85 gallons)

Delaware (3.72 gallons)

Nevada (3.46 gallons)

North Dakota (3.26 gallons)

Montana (3.11 gallons)

Vermont (3.08 gallons)

Wisconsin (2.98 gallons)

Alaska (2.94 gallons)

Idaho (2.92 gallons)
Hey, all you Wisconsinites, we've got to change that! lol

Wisconsin should be 3rd. Here’s the reason.

1. New Hampshire: gets all the New Yorkers visiting.
2. D.C.: not much to argue there as that’s where all the politician are----from other states.
3. Delaware gets NJ, PA, and MD people going to the shore.
4. Nevada has people coming from all states to gamble.
5. North Dakota: guess they could be #1 as there’s nothing there, [I know, I lived there for 17 years].
6. Montana: could be #2, see North Dakota, [I lived there 4 years].
7. Vermont: not a chance, see New Hampshire.
8. Wisconsin: Now #3 but could challenge for #1 as we are just over ¼ gallon behind North Dakota.
9-10. See North Dakota, could be 5 & 6 respectfully.

Two thoughts;
-2.98 gallons of beer is a lot different than 2.98 gallons of whiskey..which is it.
-When did D.C. become a state? Did the folks in N.H. do the study?

Funny story, about 12 years ago I spent 20 days in D.C. for work and went to that poop hole bar that inspired the SNL skit; cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger..Coke, Coke, Coke..No, we ain't got no Pepsi.
Was ironic at the time..had to be there.

I wonder how they measure this. Total alcohol sold within the state? New Hampshire and Delaware have 0% sales tax. Not sure how they calculate the alcohol sin tax but I imagine New Hampshire's alcohol costs less than other states on top of no sales tax. Huge, state run, liquor stores on the side of the interstate like rest stops https://daily.sevenfifty.com/how-new-hampshires-liquor-stores-became-must-visit-travel-destinations/ God bless and Live Free or Die 'N'Ampsha'

And Nevada, forget about it, viva Las Vegas.
