Their starting quarterback, Smith, had a concussion mid-season and the rookie started. They liked how he played and Smith has never started since. I personally don't like how Harbough treated Smith, as you usually don't lose your starting job in the NFL to injury. The rookie can be exciting though and is a pretty good runner. I just think nerves will get to him a bit tonight.

Kappernick is 1 fast dude & I would spy him with Clay only LB that has a chance to catch him. I think Kappernick will settle down in 1st 5 mins or so & has a cannon arm. Only fault is he needs to loft the ball a bit instead of laser shots down the field. If Pack D gets tired chasing Kappernick around look out for Gore as he will be breaking big running plays. Just have to go with 49ers even if Rogers has a good day.

yeah it is a little quite, probably a little shocked. I thought the pack would make it a very close game. Its hard to believe how fast the NFL evolves. A planned run QB, scrambling is different, wasn't much of a thought a couple years ago, it was all about the pocket passers. Now the pistol formations is a game changer. I thought Harbaugh was a fool for benching Smith, ill eat my words on that. The biggest stat for me was the Kaepernick ran for 178 yards BEFORE being contacted by a Packer, didn't even know that was possible in the NFL. Oh well, as they say... theres always next season.

The Pack was just outplayed last night. And Kaeppernick was just a machine. He got away with it last night, but the first time he gets hit hard running like that, I bet the coach will start to think about putting the star QB in harm like that.

I saw a few packer fan tears last night ;) Some of the loudest guys I know were sitting around stunned and quiet. Then we all drank some more..... Good times.

Is the read option the wave of the future or do they all end up like RG3 sooner rather than later? Pack still cream of NFC North and will be for awhile but how do you put together a D to stop a decent QB with wheels? Even Clay Matthews couldn't catch the guy. Raji was a nonfactor. Just too much horsepower.

Are you kidding me Kaeppernick is built for abuse & has been running like that all season? The game was interesting but pretty much knew Kaeppernick would wear down Pack D. Kaeppernick is the real deal & have been watching him on NFL ticket all season. Congrats Pack good year but only went as a far as you could with current team. Now watch Russel Wilson do the same but Seahawks probably need 1 more year to peak not as refined as 49ers yet but coming on strong in tuf divison.

OK. Lets start off by saying that I can deal with the loss if they actually got beat by a better team. Dont get me wrong the 49ers are a great team but if MCCarthy and Dom Capers would ever get their heads out of their asses and use the talent they have the Packers would be unstoppable. IMO the coaching staff at Green Bay is inadequate and cant adapt to changing their game plan if something isnt working.AKA why in the **** dont they go to the quick slant over the middle that works everytime, roll out Aaron out of the pocket when the whole game he either cant see the guys open or he doesnt have time to get it to them.Thats just to name a few. Like I said I can deal with the loss but showup and play the game , better yet COACHES get the team prepared ....OUT.....

To me MCCarthy and Dom Capers are among best coaches in the league & main reason the Pack stayed in the hunt. The Pack draft good talent as well & will be top of North for near future. Rogers has good wheels too just need to evolve with more QB running plays to take advantage of option running/throwing QB. Pack in great shape for next year. MCCarthy and Dom Capers will figure it out in off season.

i have no problem admitting we were out played, out schemed, and out coached. if the pack wants to continue go deep in the playoffs we need to address our defense, we can look fine against avg. teams but as soon as we play an explosive team we give up 500 yards. something needs to be addressed a new scheme? new coordinator? i don't know. we won't win another title playing defense the way we do.

there were also some stupid play calls in that game offensively. cobb and nelson don't have a catch at half?? r u kidding me?? two runs and a pass and three and out to start the 2nd half. we shouldn't of pretended we wanted to or could run the ball. we should of spread them out 4-5 wide shot gun all game and live and die with the ball in our best players hand. (rodgers)

even if we were clicking on offense it still wouldn't of mattered when you give up 579 yards!!

i sure hope it snows soon.....

You got to look at the body of coaching work for the entire season not just 1 game. MCCarthy and Dom Capers did a pretty good job with what they had or you end up with a Lovie Smith firing & winning record going to what ,where & when? Pack is in good shape for next year but need to elevate to final 4 from final 8. Many teams worse off than Pack.

Remember, with all new "fads" in the NFL defenses catch up, adapt, and figure out how to stop it. So for this year, its all about the pistol and planned QB runs. Just wait til these QB's start getting more injuries which will happen in this league. Next year it will evolve into something else. The Pack are a great team, need some offensive line help but their a pretty complete team. Their D, which is good but not great, got caught in a game where the opposing QB was on fire, not much you can do. IT was still a great season for them.

Dom Capers is a good coach. He just doesn't have much to work with. The Pack has a huge arsenal of offensive weapons- except for RB -and that seems to be where much of the free agent and drafting has focused. For starts they need some guys that can stuff the run and can actually tackle. Giving up 500 yards to AP in three games when you know exactly what is coming is unforgivable. Other teams pay attention to things like that.

Ya, I don't see this as long term. The QB's are going to take too much punishment, RGIII for example is down to one good knee after just his first season.

Give the Niner's their due, they played a good game and looked better prepared.

HOlY Crap???? I thought bears fans were the only ones good at making excuses.... The packer D is getting more and more exposed, each year and especially throughout this season. Rodgers is still one of the best if not the best QB in the league. To try and say that the packers are definetivly the better team IMO is a stretch or they would of won last night plan and simple. Good Luck next year. One things for sure. The pack better find a way to protect Rodgers or he is no better than Kapernick regarding how much risk he is at. Actually its just plain hard to believe how durable Rodgers has been. I mean all those sacks and not one injury, even minor that would knock him out for a game or two. It truely is amazing. Repetition and age becomes very hard on every player in the NFL and Rodgers is not going to be any different. All these hits add up and make the risk even greater for injury each year.
