This is a big decision each time I shop. I am overflowed with both, though plastic is good for returning empty's.

My wife has a Cloth Shopping Bag that she takes along to the market so I guess it'd be neither for her.

I usually go with Plastic but I recycle them... by using them to clean up the Dog Poop. The paper ones get soggy and tear and then you end up wasting water by having to wash your hands. (too much information, I know)

You see, we have a Labrador and sometimes it's a BIG job and just one plastic bag won't do.

I use plastic because I then reuse it for other things like small garbage cans, carry something somewhere, there is a million uses after the groceries come out. If I am stocked up on plastic, then I go paper and use it to start the campfire.

Are you NUTS??????????

Those plastic bags are wasted! They break with heavy stuff....or the grocer puts one thing in the bag so you end up with 15 bags rather than 3.

Plastic falls all over the place. Paper bags don't. They stand up in the car or truck and unless you have panic stops, that's where they will be when you get home! Plastic.....everything on the floor....nothing left on the seat.

Paper is also a good insulator....plastic...forget about it. Ice cream, raw chicken...you name it...stays way colder in paper.

Finally....listen up buddy.....paper is an industry that comes from wood, and wood products support JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.....GET IT....JOBS in the area you ride your sled. Paper is also recyclable and can be used a dozen times.

So the next time some place doesn't offer paper bags to pack your groceries, you just say...."stop.....if you don't pack in paper, I am out of here" and LEAVE immediately.

If a grocer sees that he is losing business because he didn't provide a penny bag for your business....it registers home....believe me.

Whoever invented plastic bags should be bound, tarred and feathered.

When it comes to packing groceries....it is Paper all the way...except no substitute. I am passionate about paper....support your local tree cutter and only use paper..his job depends upon it.

I'm 50:50. We reuse plastic bags for picking up dog poop, lining smaller garbage cans, etc. But we reuse paper bags for storing recycled glossy paper and other things.

Hah.....city folks...walking around with crap in their hands.;)

We country people just snicker and keep walking.

Dog doo-doo....god's fertilizer....I used to tell my neighbor "no extra charges".....what are neighbors for???

The trick is to get it where you want it.....comes with proper trainin acorse....not easy teach'n a dog to crap in the flower beds ....WHILE the neighbor isn't looking.....takes PRECISE timing....but ole bailey...he's a master at it....born natural I guess.

Acorse, every once in awhile....he slips up....

I think he does that jist to pizz me off...I swear I can see him grinning...as I head for the shovel. Lately he has been working the indoor wastebaskets....looking for candy wrappers....but that's another story and another thread to hyjack.

canvas for me most stores give you a nickle back for each bag you bring in and those plastic bags will be soon charged to you a fee for each and every one you get if the stores have there way and some cities to San Fran I think wants to charge 20 cents per plastic bag you want too many of them in the land fill and they don't decompose like paper canvass first for me paper second !!! and plasitc dead last why would any one want to give them stinking oil companies any more of our hard earned money?
