Any news on the Park View Lodge in Twin Lakes? Last I knew it was closed and for sale. Just looking for an update!

I heard this website was buying it. There will be different areas of the bar designated for discussions on oil, 2 stroke/4 stroke, Poo 800's, Doo crank bearings, On/Off Trail, Hand signals, Pipes, Pot, and trail permits.

Why buy a job. For the money one can just retire up there. The houses are dirt cheap.

Think about this before you buy, I looked into buying up a couple blocks of Larium a few years back and making all those houses rentals. Then a local stated to me,"who you going to rent those houses too? There us no jobs up here.
Same goes for that "white elephant ". Who in their right mind would build that place in that location. 1 season draw only. Not on water, not the character like the bug bar.

Tough question to answer, however the ATV/UTV/SxS market is exploding. I just hope the State of Michigan will realize this and get on board to take advantage of the economic impact this will create. I don't mean just raising permit fees. I would hope new trails could be built, permanent easements obtained, as well as sharing snowmobile trails. Another plus would better mapping of where you can and cannot ride. Rather confusing now.

Sorry if I hijacked this thread...

Is Krupps successful because of the ownership or could anyone make it go?

It takes a certain kind of person, with a tremendous work ethic to operate a successful resort. Not just anyone could do it imo. The have an awesome reputation for a reason.

Would Parkview do better with ATV/SxS traffic now?

First and foremost, you have to cater to the locals, without the support of the locals, you have a VERY seasonal business. Atv and sxs business has picked up a lot since I started going up there in the summer of 99.

The ATV and SxS growth is interesting. I was talking to Tom from the Bay Bar Sunday afternoon and asked if the increase in summer traffic was helping him out. He said there was a little upside but that the summer crowd is very different, most have a cooler with them and just stop on the side of the trail and have a few beers. The summer crowd may help the lodging, but it seems to have less upside for the bars and restaurants.

So far ATVs have not done much in Vilas ...never see any out and about. Phelps bar owners say Atvs has not increased biz that much....maybe a little & every little bit helps in resort towns.
