this was just a marketing campaine.....few weeks before the new season this happens then A&E says they are suspending Phill........then run Duck Dynasty for 46 hr straight on their channel.....marketing at its best....

Bottom line, we can say what we want, when we want. Plain and simple. There will always be someone who does not like what is said, because their feelings got hurt. I may not agree completely with what Phil said, but, I strongly support his right to say what he said. He was asked his opinion on a matter, and he gave it, plain and simple.

I love everyone, hate noone, don't care about freedom of speech, don't need to work hard to be able to go sledding, don't care if the PACKERS beat the bears for the Northern Division title, heck...who is Phil Robertson? My kid should get an award for getting a c- in math, and a trophy for fumbling the ball in the football championship. Nope...don't even want to retire someday, if my wife screws around on me thats ok, my sled is the "slowest", I'd rather have my daughter collect unemployment than have to work hard and go to college. I commend anyone who stands for what ever they believe. Your damn straight this thread, speaking out rocks the boat and it ought to. If we are afraid to speak what we believe is the truth than we allow ourselves to be pushed right to the side like we are. It's over for silence and to be politically correct, it's time to stand firm on conviction but to always to be respectful to those who we disagree with. So if Phill Robertson was an atheist, devil worshiper, racist, fought for Jihad, or believed in marrying multiple virgins, would we still be jumping up and down about his rights to free speech, or would we be yelling and screaming about how there is nothing but crap on TV?

Why anybody would waste one moment of their precious lives thinking about some fake family on some fake TV show simply boggles my mind.

IMO, live "YOUR" life, believe in "YOUR" God, do it with "YOUR" family, and quit worrying about what anybody else thinks about it!

Lenny....for the record, my post was not meant at all to detract from the seriousness of this issue, but just an attempt at some light humor. I agree with your point of view 100%.

I will say, as much as I hate to, that A&E had a right to fire him if they didn't like what he said. But....it's pretty shallow and hypocritical of them to do so merely because the man stated his opinion (which is based on the Bible and did not contain any hate, bigotry, threats of violence, etc.).

Too many people/groups are offended too easily.

Problem is we are not in a "United we stand" mode that we should be. People nowadays are all about, "Me" "Me" "Me" not you... but "Me". it is totally screwed up.
But back to Phil, him and the family will make insane money out of this. Good for them, but they sold out to A&E by doing the show to begin with. It's all about what, "I can get" not how can I help my fellow man. so sad.

you make a good point and yes, we are divided but those of like mind are not alone and unity of minority or majority is a strong cord. If we continue to see the opposition as too strong, or we are divided, or see it as a money thing we are still distracted. Each one of us can stand on our own convictions regardless of what camp we belong to. I say we continue to have open discussion and build awareness. Fight division among like minded people, avoid controversy and quarreling. If your a believer, examine your heart, step along side someone help them get stronger. Words are powerful and what comes out of our mouths needs to be strongly considered.

My best friend was a pastor and he taught me to examine all my decisions and see if they line up to what I understand to be the truth and that is a hard hard thing to do, and I fail daily but we never stop.

All I am am saying is that when the opportunity arises in life to explain, correct, help, love etc,,,do it in line with your convictions and do not be silenced. Regardless of your religious views, sexual preference, do everything with respect and you will bridge a divide. It all starts within ourselves my friends and spreads outward and it can spread like a wildfire but if we're silent and lack motivation than we experience decline.

thanks for posting this, I watched the whole thing. I have a very similar story with problems early on in life as a young man and when I heard the call, I ran towards it. It's the only solution to over coming the natural heart of man and it's destructive path. All truth in that video!
