All the mfgrs are dredging up the old names. Now we have a new SRX and Thundercat to go along with the ZR series AC revived. I don't see anything the matter with the Indy name. At least they didn't bring back the Fusion or the Storm. The mfgrs know that their expensive new sleds are only affordable to us old geezers that grew up with Indys and ZRs. They are trying to wake up some pleasant memories. Any new millenial type sled buyer doesn't care at all what the name of a sled is. That is not the target market. This is snow-geezer marketing.

Hey now I'm not even 40 yet!! Old geezer talk.... I loved my 1995 INDY Trail though. Indy was a brand back then. Everyone is going back to their roots. I can sell you a brand new Farmall tractor even! On topic I was looking my INDY XC over last night and I can't believe how well built that rear suspension is. I mean HD!! Then I noticed my springs are only set on soft!! I go 280# dressed and I thought the rear was more than enough. As soon as that baby gets on the transfer blocks she stiffens right up. No wonder I enjoyed it so much!! Can't wait to put some more miles of smiles on her!!

Polaris made a marketing blunder by reintroducing the Indy as a baseline, low cost model, and now offering it with the same name, as a high end sled and suspension. I was confused until people started discussing here. Mfg'ers running out of ways to get consumers excited to pay $300-$500 higher retail every year. Couple that with some total MORON (multiple surely) that figured it was good idea to separate WI registration and trail passes...they'll kill this sport slowly, as they clearly are. Doesn't snow anyway in WI - who needs new?

Ok I see where yur going with this. ....compared to the Rush the re introed Indy was the lower end machine.
I think even the Poo faithful have a hard time getting used to the haybaler looks of the Rush.
I suspect it will be phased out in a couple years.

I think Poo hit it out of the park by badging the new "performance" XC, and all the broad base Indy series trail models. And it well sell !!! The "Indy" models over all the years of Poo mfg. sleds, are the absolute most successful Poo snowmobile series by far!!! Indy means Poo snowmobiles!!! Just as MXZ does to DOO. The Indy model/series, is what Poo used to get to "OWN" the sled market for many years. Imo, when Poo used the Indy model as a low level, low price, ecno sled it was a wack in the face of the Indy heritage period.

I know. What I meant is it went from one bare bones sled into an entire trail line that happens to be Pol’s traditional tunnel line. That’s sorta strange from a marketing perspective. Doesn’t happen very often.

yea..and its stupid..why not brand it like its something new and kickas..like they did with the rush..makes no sense

OK....LOL.....what would you 2 have named it then?..^..what would tickle yur tummies….?....LOL...I think "RIOT" would work, named after the patRIOT engine ….although the Indy XC has the 6 and 8 in it also....

Maybe holding off on re-entering the moniker "XCR" until the 2019 model year would have been a better idea if they wanted nostalgia.

XCR is Cross Country Racer, which is what the XCR is built for. Ditch pounding and big bump riding with a stiffer ride. Not at all what the new Indy XC is. The Indy name is famous in this industry.
