This thing is a monster! Though it's huge the balance is awesome. Also I can't emphasis enough how smooth this engine is. Very impressed. This should shut my neighbor up. There will be no more laughing at me and my little Toro! Can't wait to give her a go!

My thrower isn't an Ariens, but it is a 27" with a 9hp. It's great when the wind picks up after a big snow fall. Set the shoot up straight and let the wind take the snow over to the neighbors.
No more high banks when you can spread the snow across the yard.

Great rig! I have the same size in a Simplicity. Might need to invest in tire chains. They make a big difference.

I have the Ariens 1028 and it has proven very trusty for 11 Keweenaw winters. When I first picked it up, I mentioned something about tire chains as my old Toro had them. The person at the shop I bought it from just sort of chuckled and said I would not need them as the tires provide plenty of traction. He was sure right. In fact, the main problem I have is trying to hang onto the darn thing if the footing is slick. It will actually dig itself into a hole if you let it by not running the auger or running "off trail".

Nice machine, you will love it and love snow even more!

Unfortunately there are only a couple of the Briggs actually made here in the states. I believe they are the 305 cc and the 342 cc. They rest of the snowblower engines are made in China. Though they are built under the eye of Briggs and Stratton.
What sets this engine apart from the others is it has many commercial grade engine feature: cast iron cylinder liner, ball bearing journals front and back, and forged crank. This thing is a SMOOOOTH engine.
