Please Be Careful

Out for a ride tonight with 3 other friends. One missed a corner and ended up hitting guide wires. Sled is junk. He took a helicopter ride. He was alert and talkin. In lots of pain. NO alcohol was involved. Speed may have been a factor. I was 2nd in line and doin 40-50. He was 3rd in line and says he was around the same speed. Some scary sh*t. Never thought I would be involved in something like this.

I have lived in several states, at least 3 of them have had people ( to my best memory ) die when hitting those. Godspeed to your friends recovery.

No booze

So glad to here no booze was involved. Save that for the end of the trail when you get back. Too much crap happens when people get all tanked up and start racing to the next bar! Hope all comes out well for your friend.

Man never thought I'd have to post something like that. Still no new news. We have beautiful weather and trails today. Should be out ridin. But I have no urge to get back on a sled.

Man, I hope your buddy is ok and is going to do good. I have to ask but where were the hand signals from the front of the group? When I am riding, dont care what position, I am grabbing brakes and pointing hazards near the trail to my follower. If you where boon docking and traveling that fast something has to give........

Have been to the scene of 2 accidents thru the years that both resulted in deaths. group of sleds riding hard, hit some twisty S turns and one of the middle or last sled follows tailights wrong way on corner because other up front in different corner !sounds unbelievable but happens especially if there is snodust! be carefull out there !

It was dark. We were bout a 1/4 mile apart. There is one little caution sign. I want no bashing but I will admit there was no hand signals.

What a terrible thing for all involved, I hope it turns out ok for your friend. Having lost my brother while on a snowmobile trip I can empathize with the shock that goes with this sort of accident. Unfortunately my brother died at the scene and like you mentioned, we all thought it could or would never happen to us as well. This sort of tragedy always brings back the memories of the wait for help, the emergency lights, the phone calls to family etc. it's at minimum a life changing experience. Again I pray for your friend, his family, you and your other buddies that it all ends with a positive out come. Paul

mxz500rider, hope your friend has a full, quick recovery!

A few years back, I was with a few guys riding motorcycles, daytime ride, came through a 35 mph curve (with some gravel and landscape rock) and the 3rd guy in our group panicked, fixated on a 4x4 sign post and struck it, not good at all, internal injuries, broken wrist, helmet definately helped avoid a head injury & did it's job!

Luckily we were able call for help, got him airlifted and he survived-Thank God!

I know how you feel about not wanting to take part in a sport after something like what you experienced has happened.

I didn't know if I wanted to ride cycles after that incident, but after some time I was able to do it and enjoy it again. I may have become more aware when riding than before, and always keep it in mind that you need to be alert at all times, especially in remote areas!!

Yes, normally its only 2 or 3. But there was 6 of them on this one since it was a corner pole. They had orange plastic covering them. I did go out for a lil ride(15 miles) today before all the snow melts and it just wasn't the same. I didn't wanna be on it.
