I've been on the phone for most of today to figure out that it is NOT happening on the Canal. By the way I did get the local coast guards verbal approval to do it, just as long as i let them know when i go on the water and when i get off the water. Obviously things didn't go as planned and i got shut down. Now, I'm working on torch lake doing laps by dream land bar, or possibly If anyone has any words of advice please let me know. Thank you all for your support.

Why not take John's subtle suggestion & see if it is doable on Rice Lake. I think you're still going to be subject to the above mentioned as Torch Lake is a "Navigable Waterway".-Mezz

Eric,

Why can't you go and register the machine and title it as a pwc like the moyle boys did. once that is done you need to have onboard at all times a whistle, fire extinguisher, registration paper work, and your valid mc numbers. Another thing to remember is that once you do title the sled as a pwc it can not be changed back to a snowmobile. A few more things that you have to add are check valves on your vent lines so that once the machine goes down it will not leak out and contaminate the water way.

I trust that he has all the proper permission slips in order this time. What is the scheduled start time? Glad to hear that he is able to still make a go of it. Good Luck.-Mezz

Hmmmm.....?

From Erick's Facebook

"NEW PLACE OF EVENT! Event will be held at Rice Lake! So in 8 days I will be there trying to beat the Guiness Book World Record. Attached is a map of where it is."

It is cool to see this back on schedule! Good luck to Eric, it seems like an awesome experience for a great cause.

On a second note....the pic of the proposed lake and map have taught this lifetime born and bred yooper boy something. There is a Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Interesting.

I was there with 5 Team Hennessey members and we enjoyed it even tho it ended short of the record!
Anything that involves a snowmobile fix in the summer is cool if ya ask me!
The cousin seemed to try to steal the thunder away but he sunk by the dock! got boo'ed and one gal was really pissed and even vented to the Discovery channels video folks!
I cant believe it only raised $124 for the fire dept! that's sad! it seemed like about a 100 people there and thats it?
I bought $20 worth of raffle tickets and won like 15 things!
I know he wanted to break in a fresh motor but I thing it must of got hot running approx 1.5 miles on the gravel road!
I hope this gets another try!
A good cause is always worth it!

I believe he wanted to run the motor to brake it in a bit before just heading out in the lake with no miles at all on the fresh motor!
I'm also not sure that it was 1.5 miles but I heard he ran it down the road 8 tenths of a mile and back!
But you will have to ask Erick

Why did he have to do that??
