Poison Ivy

What do you guys and gals use to get rid of poison ivy? I'm not looking to reduce the itching, as I can keep myself from doing so, I just want the rashes and blisters gone. I tried toothpaste and it seems to be helping right now.

Thanks

Round Up will get rid of Poison Ivy.

Try smearing peanut butter and vasoline and let it soak in for the rash.

ahhhh, Posion Ivy. I am the pro at catching the stuff. My yearly cycle of getting it ussually goes something like this. Murshroom hunting and turkey hunting in the spring, catch posion ivy. September getting the duck blind ready, catch posion ivy. Oct/November treee stands, deerhunting, firewood cutting, catch posioin ivy. And yes you can catch it in the dead of winter. I did a couple of years ago while cutting firewood which had a large vine wrapped around the entire tree. Got it all over my face and lips from the saw dust that time. Let me say that was a gooooood time.... How to get rid of it really depends on how bad you have it and how your body reacts. I am terribly sensative to posion ivy, obviously from the above story. If you can tolerate it and its not "weeping" and "oozing" to badly time will heal on its own. If the "oozing" refuses to crust on its own so as to begin the drying process and the itch is really bad you may need to contact your doctor to get a steriod dose pack which speeds up the bodys healing process. If you have it really bad in large patches. For instances one time I had it so bad on my forearm that if I were to hold my arm vertically the "oozing" was so bad the fluid would run down my arm and actually drip off my elbow. If this is the case you really need to see a doctor so they can prescribe a really potent high dose steriod. Sorry for being candid with my description but I know how miserable this can be and share anyones pain who has a bad case of posion ivy. This has been my experience. I am lucky enough to have a family friend as a doctor. So I keep all the prescibed medicines on hand at home since i have had really extreme breakouts on weekend days. For instance the time I got it on my lips was on a Sat. Thank go i had the drugs. If you do get a prescription ask for a refill so you can always have one on hand.

Hope this helps

Scrub with fels naptha soap to prevent spreading and
live with it until your body builds the histythings to cure
itself. UNLESS you are suffering sever alergic reactions.

Indy use some triple antibiotic ointment with cortisone helps with heal and itch

I thought about that. I found some calamine lotion in my house, trying that now. The toothpaste by far feels the best, but didn't seem to heel a thing for the past 2 days.

Crapola Indy...poison ivy is a nasty beast! Bigdaddy had never gotten poison ivy'd until a few years ago when some donkey cut back the ivy from the condenser bigdaddy was gonna work on but didn't tell him and the poison ivy oil was still all over the darn thing. He didn't know what the heck was going on until a friend of ours was like "um, ya idjut! you have a poison ivy rash!"

Technu - "removes poison oak and ivy oils"

Calagel - "maximum strength anti-itch gel"

It was a pain in the butt to get it under control just because he didn't catch it right away.

Wash anything you wear or sleep in, it can be dormant for up to 6 months after you have it, so say you get into some while up north in the spring and crawl in your sleeping bag in the fall and bingo you have it again. This is for the people who have a bad reaction to it. I can walk through a patch of it and get a few bumps that are gone in a few days, my brother on the other hand looks at it and is screwed!
