Poison Ivy

Thanks for all of the responses. I've been trying a little bit of everything. Hopefully it's gone in a few days! If it doesn't improve by the middle of next week I'll be heading to the doctors office :(

Whatever you do, scout the area well before you decide to do your "business" outside. A buddy of mine once made the mistake of doing his amid some poison oak and ended up looking like one of those red-butted baboons at the zoo and sleeping on his stomach for a couple of weeks!

That last statement reminded me of my grandmother who after being out late one evening on the way home had to use the potty so she pulled off the road and did her business and ended up wiping with poison ivy leaves somewhere a woman doesn't want!! Yeah, that was a bad one for her!! She laughed about it for years afterwards though.
Never had a problem with poison ivy or oak, even though I'm in the woods alot and pretty sure I'm around it. Anyone have good pictures of it?

try this for poison ivy

Indy, My wife tried this home remedy found on the internet and it worked. She gets poison ivy every year really bad, even the meds from the doctor don't help(steroid shot/meds/cream). She mixed some dawn dish detergent with salt to make a paste. First thing is to scrub your arm with the paste, Then she applied bleach to the infected area by placing it on a cotton ball. She said it stung but relieved the itching, and dried up the area. It took her about a week, but it worked great. We never thought in a million years this would work, but the doctor's way was not working.

Indy ivy

I get poison ivy by simply looking at it. The best thing I have found is a product called Ativ On. Get the stick Activ On. It will sting a litlle, especially if you have it in that special place. Bleach also works well if you apply after scratching it raw ..GOOD LUCK!

It seems to be getting better, no more new poison ivy spots or anything. It still oozes but the spots are very red and are somewhat scabbing over. Hopefully this is a good thing?

Go to Walgreens and get Ivarest. One is a soap and one is a cream. Use both and it will go away.

I had it bad last year. On my face.

Looks like one of those celebrity mug shots!

Look! It's Nick Nolte!

LOL! I woke up like that while fishing up north. Scared the crap out of me. I had poison ivy in my own backyard, got into it, and rubbed my eyes. Went away fishing and this is what happened. Cut that trip short!
