Polaris 2nd year Warranty (or so called 2nd year)

Had a guy in our group burn down a 2013 Polaris PRO R 800 this weekend with 4,300 miles. Upset but happy he bought the second year warranty SO HE THOUGHT! Well the dealer said the second year warranty is only good to 3,000 miles after that it is voided. He was going to look up his paperwork but if that is true why call is a 2nd year warranty?? Or say its a 2 year/ 3,000 mi warranty. So sounds like he wasted money and now has to pay for a year and half old motor rebuild. Just wanted to post this so guys make sure they know how long their warranty is actually good for.

I never herd of that before. I would look for a new dealer because someone is lieing to you either the salesman that sold you the sled or the sevice manager.

Say what!?! Never heard such a thing. Could be 2nd year is from private insurer?? They would NOT want to deal with me going all Ape **** in their showroom. Read the fine print and report back.

ur buddy got screwed for sure..they sold him a aftermarket warranty if there is mileage...I agree with polaris1..i would be in that dealership ripping aholes..only only buy the Polaris factory extended..which is sold off but backed by Polaris..my 800 biatch just burned up and started on fire at 4200..i have the 5 year extended..my 12 800 burned up last year day after factory ended..extended picked it up..NO MILEAGE..JUST YEARS

The warranty came through Polaris extended warranty! I will report back when he get the final answer. Anybody else have a warranty to look at of their own?

That is not good if only 3000 miles & did sound like 3rd party warranty if Polaris WOW not good!:(

I guarantee its not a Polaris extended..he would of had to buy it from polaristar..the dealer sold him something else

although with all the 800 blowups I wouldn't be surprised to see mileage down the road

from what I understand, up until recent, polaris has never offer extended factory service, it's always been a third party service plan.

I had a polaristar extended factory warranty in 08. I specifically asked about mileage limits. At that time it was 5000 per year.

Last time I will ever buy a extended warranty. The warranty was fine, but the dealers aren't. If you want something fixed right, you have to do it yourself.

yes it is sold to a third party, but it is sold thru polaristar and backed by Polaris..believe me I have them and needed them, unfortunately

how exactly does that work than. If a third party is actually the ones paying out in the event of warranty work, do they set the fine print. Seems hard to believe that Polaris could dictate what is covered and how long, miles if they are not receiving the money.

looks like Yamaha is the only true factory warranty, what does that exactly mean?

I thought my buddy just said he got a 5 year warranty on his new Vector..he just bought from KIP....if that's true...that's awesome....the thing is...it's probably over kill with a 4 stroke...but that's impressive...that's backing your product.
