FM-How far in negative temps have you taken this set up and how has the performance been? A lot more snap?

The main thing to check is your fuel screws on the side of the carbs. Most of the 2006 models came from the factory out of whack. They should be 1.5 - 1.75 turns out. From the factory they ended up anywhere from 2 - 2.5 turns out.

I have been running the set-up below for 2 years on my 06 600RMK and love it! I tried many other combos and the set-up below works great. No more loading up on the bottom end.

60 pilot jet

0.9 air jet

1.25 fuel screw

400 main jet

Just my $0.02.

Motor_slut-Are you suggesting leaving the jet settings stock and just play with the fuel screws?

06" Switchback 600 HO "Loading Up" Issue

I posted this in another thread before seeing this one. It seems that if I make the changes/adjustments recommended in this thread that it may clear up my issues. Does that seem right? Are these things a novice can do?

"My 06 Switchback 600 HO appears to be what I would call loading up (running rich). It smokes excessively and when sitting idle for a minute or two, there will be a black spot in the snow where the exhaust comes out. It also seems to go through more gas than it should by i'm not sure about that. This is especially annoying off trail in the deep when you have to stop to pick a line or something, because once you go it hesitates due to loading up from idling. Forgive me if my lingo isn't the best, but I'm not the most technical person.

So, my question is two fold:

1) What suggestions would there be to fix the snowmobile as is? Jetting?

2) I'm thinking of adding a rumble pack silencer to it and believe that by doing that it may run a little leaner. Since I want to do this anyhow, should this be the 1st thing to try?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!"

Is there an easy way to even get at the carbs in these sleds? I have an 06 Fusion 600 and it locks like a total PITA to get at them to re-jet. My engine was rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago and the mechanic changed the jetting for the break-in period. I'm going to have him re-jet it back to factory once I get up there this year (President's day weekend, assuming there is snow). With all the posts above, I'm wondering how I should ask him to jet it, if not stock. I was considering going with the stock jetting and then adding the Holtz Engineering Attack, so I don't have to deal with jetting anymore. Just another idea.

Not to bad taking them off but the airbox can be a major pain to get back on correctly, main thing is to lube up the boots on the airbox and don't get in a hurry when putting it back on.

I called and talked to Nate at JS Powersports as suggested here. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. I ordered from him new Main Jets, Pilot Jets, and Pilot air Jets. Now, My question is where can I find a "how-to" for replacing these? Is this something a novice like me can do? Thanks for any info.

Please let me know what he suggested you should be running for jets, if you are going to run it in the midwest and lower altitudes. Thanks. As I mentioned above, I need to get mine jetted properly as well.

Hoosier- This was from one of my earlier post. You can check the website as well. I called JS Powersports to confirm settings and they recommended 400 MJ, 35-40 PJ and .8 PAJ and a small adjustment on the fuel screws. Also said 410's are fine with this set up as well. Little more piece of mind in negative temps...at least for me.

I am going tp start with the fuel screw adjustments as recommended by Motor_Slut first then rejet if needed.

Good information...is the stock main jet a 420?

My biggest concern in taking this apart is getting it all back together. Those carbs are tight and I've heard multiple times the airbox is a PITA to put back on.

Snowdance and tgun - is this set up for you guys both for riding in the midwest?

Yes, the 420 is stock main jet on mine. This set-up is for the midwest. The air-box is tight, but once you know how it goes in and out then it's not so bad. Still is a PITA though!

Tips-take your time, few drinks, some curse words and you should be set. An extra set of hands isn't bad either. Once I get motivated I am going with 410 MJ, 40 PJ and .8 PAJ.

So got my new jets installed and got up to the yoop to give it a go this past weekend. The 600 HO ran like a top and it seems like the loading up issues have went away. Much more zip on the low end. But, may be a little too much, because the plugs are getting light colored. I'd say a dirty white. I went with 400 MJ, 40 PJ, .8 PAJ and the fuel screws at 1.25. while up there I changed the fuel screws to 1.75, but that did not help. Would changing the needle clips position help this or do I need to go up a size on the main jet?
