Polaris Dragon 600 2008 - Shuts down when it warms up

I have a 2008 Polaris Swithcback Dragon. I just had it in for service and it still it not running properly. It idles fine. I take it for a few laps.. great for a while.. then shuts off. Motor kills. No Lights. Nothing. Like I hit the kill switch. Dealer replaced some bushings on clutch. Didn't help. Now they feel it needs a new fuel pump. Does anyone else agree with this diagnosis? A new pump from Polaris is 6 bills. Hate to dump that in the sled (which has 6300 miles) if that isn't the problem. Recently had the stator replaced. Dealer said engine tests fine and electrical all looks good. Thanks to anyone offering advice.

Not real familiar with fuel pumps on sleds but I can't see an electrical fuel pump working then not then working again. I would think it works or it doesn't. Also seems like there would be a way to test it as soon as the sled shuts down to see if it is working.

Seems like electrical issue. Fuel pump possible but wouldn' instantly shut off should cough very briefly before shutting off like you ran out of gas. My guess would be failure on injector circuit or coil. But these are guesses. A dealer should have the knowledge to troubleshoot the issue.

Thanks. Just had it at the dealer. Having a new pair of eyes look at it. Guy seems very knowledgable and also made it sound like it was electrical. Maybe stator, even though just replaced. Apparently 08 was a year that stators were an issue on my make and model. Thanks for input.

Classic coil problem. Works fine until it warms up. Hard to find sometimes. I went 1/2 of one season battling this same problem. Coils are cheap. Throw a new coil at it and see what happens.

sounds like the voltage regulator to me. have seen a o9 rmk do the exact thing . would run get warm and die . it would sit for 20 min and then run for 2 or 3 min then die .

I bet its Fuel Pump. In Tank Fuel Pumps do that when they go. They should put a pressure Gauge in line and Drive it.

Otherwise it could be the Stator.

Bad thing is it may end up costing more to fix it than what its worth. Ever think about dumping it. May be your chance to buy a Doo.

My 98 Polaris had pretty much the same problem. Run for a short time and die out , no start. Let sit awhile and it would fire right up. Trying to accelerate while it was running the engine would bog down till it died. Electrical checked out fine. My wrench went to take it for a ride and it died out in the driveway. He pulled the fuel line out of the tank and the pickup screen was plugged with plastic gunk. Drained and cleaned the tank . A short test ride after and everything was fine. Will give it a real test this week. And he had mentioned this problem before he even touched the sled. It sure did seem like an electrical problem to me with my limited knowledge. I use either Seafoam or Stabil Marine in my gas.

Wiring harness under cowl was rubbing up against frame and shorting out. A fine mechanic in Eagle River figured it out.
