Cut weight big time of AXYS chassis & brought new 800HO to market but not sure how different this 800 is other than lighter crank & more hp? ...have to find out more. I need to sit on AXYS chassis more forward not what I'm looking for just got used to old Rush position. Rush looks like ready for bangers but I wonder how big that market is overall? To me Poo did some good things taking on doo for light weight. Not sure what doo will do but started adding weight last year with side suspension dials & such which is aok with me but how light do you have to be? Is weight reduction never ending or have we lost enough weight?

Weight loss costs the consumer more. Crazy. Maybe if they get the sled chassis light enough then they can slide a 4 stroker in the sleds and all will be happy. With Poo chock full of motorcycle 4 stroke engineers you think they would create something light weight for a sled. We should not have to crank up oil on our 2 strokes while Poo looks the other way. The new 800 has an electronic oil pump, is it tinker proof??

When OEMs start getting into composite materials replacement parts are going to be expensive.....I have no idea how to bind them. I don't think anyone is surprised we are there now as only can drill so many holes in metal before it weakens the structure & metal weighs more via physics than composites. Definitely a cost to composites vs metal ...just wondering is it worth it cost wise to the mass market to start using composites to reduce weight to that extent. You buddy's welding talents won't help with composites totally dependent on the dealer. Just thinking out loud..... & not sure others will go there?

have owned switchbacks for the last 3 sleds 136'ers and have been really wanting to try an assault out once but after seeing that switchback prox give it a couple years and hopefully will own one of them

This is my 1st year on a polaris after 17 on yamis. Love my '13 switch 600 i got from kip and joe. Love it. Already told them i plan to ride it all next season then trade in for a holdover '15 or a 2016 in a year and a half from now. Hopefully this 800 revision is durable. I will most likely get the switchback 800 PRO-S. not sure what doo will unveil tonight but i think poo has a good shot at SOTY with the AXYS. Just my opinion. I mean yami and cat came with nothing new. So they are out. Not that SOTY is a big prestigious award but its an award none the less.

Only 3 engines in the Poo stable now and all 2 strokes. Some could argue that none of the 3 are stone solid reliable. God, I wish they'd come out with a 4 stroke to compete with the Yamaha 4S's.....but then again, why spend money to develop a product that has such a small market share?

Polaris dont have to compete with Yamaha for their small market share. Wait you already answered that. lol

Just curious, do you guys see Yamaha completely out of the game in the next few years? or sooner?

I say Yamaha supplies snowmobile motors only to "whoever" by MY2020.

Yea I answered that myself Sherlock. Polaris would sell a sheetload more sleds to peeps like me that like quiet, smoke free sleds that run and run and run and run and run and run and run and run.....and don't want to ride a chassis that feels like you're sitting on a piece of heavy duty tinfoil (aka SkiDoo). My guess is that I was owning Polaris sleds before you were born. lol

not so sure about the before I was born part unless you were riding a poo in its first 4 years 1955 to 1959. Got my first Polaris in 1972 brand new Colt 175 with a whooping 12.5 hp. one lunger star engine. For Christmas. I was 12. So the cleaner quiet engine maybe in my near future.

That was already dropped last year. How are they meeting epa regulations you ask? LESS oil=less smoke. You wonder why everyones turning up their pumps.

If the regs are that lax, my 2002 Viper used aprox. the same fuel/oil ratio as my 2013 poo6 ....so are you saying there was no real need for the RX-1 in the first place?....wow it would be a different situation for Yamaha if that were true.
Did Yamaha over react and put all there eggs in one 4 stroke basket in a EPA buttkissin frenzy?

I was thinking the same thing about the epa.
fleet average is it possible the lawyers got atv and snowmobile both in the same off road classification?
