Polaris Strikes again!!!!!

I understand Indy and the Nytro that was in my shop while you were here was dealer related problem not a malfunction of the sled itself. You're correct to say that it happens to all brands but these stories get embellished to say the least at times. Yes what comes around goes around but you're picking the wrong argument as far as dependability goes. Pick your battles, this ain't it buddy:) It would be like me arguing weight on a Yamaha vs. Polaris, it's simply foolish, we know who wins that battle. It sucks seeing any brand get picked on as they all have their problems but you have to think outside the box and you can't get so defensive to your brand as they do have their downfalls. Admitting that is not a failure, it's actually admirable Indy. Have fun riding and I hope to see you in the shop again:)

Wow..seems Polaris has systemic engineering issues, lot of complaints on their ATV & SxS junk too..are they into watercraft? wish Honda would get into sleds so we wouldn't have to choose from bad or worse.

BTW Kip, Thanks for taking care of my buddy this weekend , we had a very nice day and a half with the new ride, and he is very happy with it so far.

It happens every year. People get on the Internet and whine because their sled broke down. If you get so pissed off that your $12k sled broke down and ruined your ride, maybe this isn't the sport for you. Either learn how to fix it yourself the right way, find a dealer that knows how to fix stuff the right way, or stay home and watch reruns of Seinfeld.
I guess the 4th option is cry on the Internet. Everybody else does.

If you ride long enough, they will all break down. Any brand. I've broken down with every brand including a yammy 4s that was 1 year old at the time. It happens.

Not pointed at any one person. Just my observation.

and omfg..thought we were done with this post..i bombed my rebuilt 800 all season cuz they rebuilt it right..got the oil right..and got the oil right on my switch 800..and that switch is a awesome sled(pro r)..so even if the biatch breaks(im at 4000) im definitely adding 2 800 assaults next year..hopefully whitedust will take me on the poles(or somebody):)

my last 4 yamahas were run up to around 15k miles each....one was a 2 stroke that was rebuilt at 9K.....were they absolitely trouble free?....ahell no....but now i can change out the exhaust donuts and front end bushings at Nascar pit speed!....LOL....them yamaha belts wear a nasty groove in the clutch faces as well.

I now own a '13 poo 6 along with 2 yam 4 strokes and expect around 6k outta the poo motor.....we will see.

I like my titanic boat anchors so much I have three. No problems X3...

I gave up on boat anchors with the '94 Thundercat....but the Apex is equally proficient in the "anchor" application - just significantly HIGHER quality!

Oh well too bad you never gave eps a chance but 2s 600 better for you since you turn over sleds sooooo often. Just to be fair you should state pre eps just sayin. :)

I think the "Honda Accord" you are looking for is the Vector. I know I've advertised for him in the past and probably beating a dead horse but Nick Keller has over 65,000 miles on his 2010 Vector, original motor. I'm not a Yamaha guy but that says something. I know there are plenty of high mile 2s out there, but I doubt you'll find one with this many miles.

I've got a 2007 Vector for sale...5833 on the clock...$4250 or best. ZERO trouble, and lots of miles left in for sure! Between this one and my wife's current 2010, she has almost 10,000 trouble-free miles on Vectors. Great sled.

Pre EPS....PRE engine braking reduction....those two features along make a big difference in how these sleds ride and handle...throw in the dual tuner skis, and latest suspension calibrations...and you might actually be surprised at how well these "boat anchors" handle and ride.

My cat handles better than my 07 Attak...and handles rough trails better than the Yami did....but I have not found a better, more plush suspension...for stutter bumps...than the mono (those sharp little rapid bumps that nail your spine)....a properly set-up mono swallows those up....medium to large bumps...the mono isn't so great in...that's where the weight of the 4 stroke can not mask it's self.....but for the average trail cruiser....a properly set-up vector LTX...or Apex (2012 or newer)..is hard to beat.

The ski-doo, Cat (and new Viper) 4 strokes...maybe lighter, and ride a little better....but you really owe it to yourself to try a 2011-2012 or newer apex, or vector (with EPS)...totally different machines than my 2007 Attak was...I would bet...if you ask... kip would probably let you try one...Im going to try the new doos and cats this winter

Well said kip, I'm really liking what I'm hearing about the viper, but I ride Polaris right now and love it.I put the Bikeman durability kit in my 13 assault, and run mystik oil in it. Just shy of 2000 trouble free miles. I hate seeing anyones sled going down no matter the brand.

I wasn't going to respond at first because it's a little off topic but I couldn't resist...

I removed my stock 2013 Venture GT skis with snowtrackers and replaced with tuner skis with Bergstrom Triple points just to try them out. figured I would put on the triple points to give the tuners the best setup to compare. After riding with tuners/triple points they still aren't as good as stock yami skis with snowtrackers. I'm switching back to stock skis with trackers.

Also, I guess I'm not the norm but I actually liked the engine braking of my 2007 attak. I have 2012 XTX now and prefer the braking in corners better. Just me...I think whitedust may feel the same way. I know he's still getting used to reduced braking with his new sled.

I think for guys coming off of a two stroke ...the engine braking is the hardest thing to get used to...also the front end weight....I came off a Cat Crossfire to an Attak...the engine breaking took me at least 300 miles to get used to....the engine braking would effect the handling in certain trail conditions and was very unnerving for me...until I got used to it....I agree that... once you are used to it...you hardly touch your brakes....Triple points work great for more aggressive riders....the average trail joe would like the dual tuners, or dually runners (especially if you shim your skis).....the darting on the pre 2011 apexes could be AWFUL...unless you had triple points or duallys (booth with shims)...I have no experience with the snow trackers...but have heard good things about them...especially with heavier 4 strokes.

I've tried woody's dually's, triple points and snow trackers. Triple points are good but in my opinion snow trackers are THE way to go. I have ridden an XTX with triple points and there is noticable push in the corners compared to the trackers. I can't say setup exactly the same in the two different machines but I have my 2011 and 2012 XTX's with stock suspension setup and only change was to snowtrackers and I'm fine with it. No more tweeking this or that. Just changing the oil and riding.
