Polaris VES cleaning

I was wondering if anyone has found a good way of cleaning their VES besides using a straight blade and scraping it clean. Is there at least something that someone found to at least loosen the carbon? Any tips appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of oil do you use? I hear the Citgo Sea and Snow works great

I used brake cleaner and a piece of fine steel wool. A little rubing and they where clean again.

I've got a brass brush drill attachment. Spray some carb cleaner on the valves, polish them up with the brass brush. Don't use a steel brush attacment or you will scratch them.

I know this topic has come up quite a few times, but I did a search and nothing came up so I figured I would post it, hoping not to annoy people. Sorry if I did! Not my intention at all. Thanks for the tips.

jebjk1 - I've only used the polaris synthetic VES oil that they recommend. It's worked well for me, so I will probably stick with that, but I will try the brake cleaner and see if it helps.

snirt - thats what I used too, the Polaris synthetic VES oil. Yup the brake cleaner works really well. I have also used carb cleaner, which works about the same. I did mine once a year (about 2000 miles)

I soak them in a glass jar with a can of brake cleaner I sprayed in to it put the lid on and check back in a day or so and wipe off with a rag.but that was years past with amsoil.bought sea and snow this yr so next yr all I should need is a piece of kleenex

Bought an 02 edge x 600 with 1604 miles. Just got the VES apart. The bellows are black. I was told that if they are black or blue, you need to replace them? Also when putting them back together, do you need to use any loctite, if so, what color and on what parts? Sorry if i hijacked this thread. Didnt see a need to start a new one.
