Polaris/Yamaha/Bell Wedge helmet shield

Does anyone know if the replacement shields for the old bell wedge helmets are available? My Dad has 2 that he just loves, never had fogging issues with, but now the shields are starting to discolor and can be hard to see out of, but still no fog, also they can't be cleaned off.

I'm sure the popular answer will be, "Get a new helmet, tightwad," but it seems that once you find a helmet that works good and gives no problems, its foolish to go to something else. I don't see him going the goggle route, and the BRP modular helmet is pretty good, but has a lot of stuff crammed in your face in those type helmets.

We've looked around at several dealers and dennis kirk, etc, theres gotta be a stash of them available somewhere.

Haha, I Just happen to have one. Love the helmet. First one I had was in 85 from Yamaha up until 10 yrs. Ago with a Poo wedge. The shield is new, still in factory wrap in clear. It fits all the helmets you mentioned. Not sure of worth, it is at home, heading there in the morning. Email me@ polarisrider@aol.com buy mine and I will tell you the majical way to put life into the old ones and maintain the new one.

I always had good luck with those old wedge helmets not fogging. I have since moved on from them but back in the day they were the only helmet that I know of that wouldn't fog up.

Heck, mine turned 20 a couple years ago and still going strong. Upgraded to electric shield last year, maybe get another 20 out of it! I got a big melon and have yet to find a new one that fits as good as the old wedge.

I have an old Yamaha Sno force that I really liked, but can not find sheilds anymore, and a AGV modular that after 3 years from when I bought it they discontinued it and no more sheilds for that model.Even called the company in Canada and was told sorry, discontinued. Now use a bv2s.Really a good product if you like full coverage helmets and all parts from 2005 and up will fit.Sure hope they keep it that way.

I have the old wedge helmet also could not find shield or bolts to hold it on (lost one in a snow storm last year, been riding with a 1/4 in bolt sticking out) so bought a new helmet this year. old wedge never fogged up even in -30 weather.

Those helmets take 2 different bolt styles. I think early 80's to 96 and 96 to discountinued. let me know &/or email me a pic of the one bolt you have and I think I can get you the parts. I am actually going to do a motorcycle/snowmobile/boat swap meet in Grand Haven on Feb. 5th from 10 to 4pm with a full breakfast buffet from 8am to 11am. I hired an entire staff to run this. Since I will be at the JDee ride at that time, my Wife will be in charge of it for me (gotta love her). I rented 4000 sq.ft. of space to move stuff. All sales monies will be donated to the Grand Haven Eagle Riders motorcycle group general fund. All items that don't sell will go to goodwill.

hey guys - i came across this thread doing a search for a Wedge shield myself. I've been out of the sledding loop for about 10 years now, but I'm going on a trip soon, and so I pulled out all of my old Sledding gear, only to find my shield on my Sno-Rider Wedge helmet is permanently fogged. i tried some simple glass cleaner, but it did not help. So I figured I'd just get online and find a new one - doh! can't seem to find them any longer... Anyone have any advice as to how to clean the fog off my current one, or where to find a new one? Any help is GREATLY appreciated! thank you!

Hey polarisrider1, I ran across this old post and wondered if you would share the magical way to put life into the old wedge shield and maintain the new ones. I still wear one occasionally. The good things about these was lots of air flow across the inside of the helmet. They are a little cooler than others I have but I like how easy it is to flip it up, take sip of water, clear the throat or talk to someone without yelling or fiddling around readjusting everything.
