Wow! What a gold mine. We have nothing like it in Michigan. Is there any place better for Chicago style dogs? Line went all the way around the building. I had to check it out.

In Vernon Hills Illinois we have a Portillos/Barnellis Pasta Bowl in one place. The restaurant is done up as a speak-easy, Al Capone type place. All of their restaurants are very good. There is an old car hanging from the ceiling with bootleggers hanging off it with guns and other items around the place. This is the first place my brother-in-law from Chattanooga goes to when he is in town. The desserts are awesome. The place is jammed ALL DAY.

it always amazes me that everyone not from the chicago area loves this place and everyone from the area thinks its so-so. it might be ok for a chain, but there are so many ma-n-pa stands that are so much better, do your self a favor and the next time your in town stop at one of the stands your wife tells you shes not going into. half the price, twice the food, and twice as good.

I am here for next three weeks. Portillos I suspect was a mom and pop that made it bigger. A line was about 100 yards long out the door on a thursday. I suspect they got it going on. Drive thru was longer line.

If you want to stand in a long line and get the best fast food Chicago has to offer, you have to go to Paradise Pup in Des Plains. Trust me on this one!!! You will not be disappointed!

It was started in a little hot dog trailer on first avenue in Addison, IL...**** Portillo made it what it is today a freaking gold mine....go into any of them and they are jammed day and night. It is a very efficent place...I worked up in Addison years ago and during lunch they had 6-7 people worrking the drive thru...you never really stopped rolling...by the time you ordered, paid and got to the window they were handing you your food. It is the freeaking best. Try the beef combo...you will compare others to it for ever and never find a better one. I frequent the one in Shorewood whenever I get down there..its my first stop. My nephew calls me everytime they go there just to rub it in! I cant say enogh good things about it.

If you are in the Joliet/Shorewood area you need to go to Babe's on Jefferson st by Menard's or my favorite place to go for a dog is Joe's Hot Dog on Rt.30 and Black Rd(6 corners) Real small place open until 3 or 4am and the dogs are awesome.

:DUmmm superdawg, demon dogs, jims on maxwell street, mister beef's, al's beef, & all the great taco stands!!! The only thing I miss about chicago. Polarisrider, try all the great pizza places chi-town has to offer as well. We used to go every sun morn down to maxwell street for the flea market (good deals on tools) & some of the taco's down there are awsome. I'll be in chi-town in july for a week & plan on hitting all theese. Do'nt forget to get some gyro's also while there.:D Also get some baby back ribs.:D
