Problems with 800 Iq 2009?

I just traded in y 2002 xcsp 700 edge on Saturday. The sled had 6,800 miles on it. I purchased the sled brand new and over the lifetime of the sled I replaced 3 sets of hi-fax, 3 sets of carbides, one coolant bottle, 1 tailight bulb, and 50 worn studs. This was by far an awesome sled. When they did a compression test it was perfect. I agree that Polaris makes great sleds but with all the current problems I went with a new mxz e-tech. I was pumped when I took delivery of my new sled. The best part of the delivery was the 1 hour the shop forman spent with me going over the sled and taking it completely apart in the parking lot. After the demo it sank in that I had made an awesome choice. I will look at poo again when I replace my backup sled. I was glad that others encouraged me not to be brand loyal and were honest about the problems they were having. Thanks again to everyone who gave me great advice especially Grub and Polaris one!!!!!

You will be happy. The '02 xcxp 700 was a really good sled. In fact if Pol offered new 700 xcxp's for sale I believe they would sell some. That being said I am betting you will enjoy your new E-Tech. Follow the break in recomendations. The very few problems reported with the E-Tech involved using the wrong oil during break-in. Good luck.

So, what all this means is I wasted my hard earned money when I bought my new 2011 Poo RMK PRO last month? Well I guess time will tell I'll keep you all posted after I get it broke in.

Get it right

I read the post and those idiots are making the same mistake you are! It's not the 2011 motor, it was the 2010 motor that they tested all of LAST year. They had the same problem many people did, so what's the big news here? What these "experts" didn't tell you is how much most of the test riders loved that sled.

This is exactly how false information gets spread! People don't take the time to read the facts, they right away assume what they want to happen! GET IT RIGHT!

from reading tests on the new pro 800 poo greatly reduced port timing compared to the old 800.they {dyno tech]think it is to have more cylinder pressure to help to slam those power valves open exactly when commanded.there has been talk about the mechanical valves staying closed when the ecu thinks they are open air flow will climb with insufficient fuel flow causing the mid range bog.with the lower port timing the mid range cylinder pressure will be higher causing the valves to slam open on demand eliminating the strange and inconsistent bog.so poo has possibly given up a few HP in exchange for perfect synchronization between power valves and ecu commands. Ok now I want to know. I am sure poo has figured this out yrs ago so why not just go to a cat style power valve that open mechanically when a signal is set to it and eliminate millions in warranty work and who knows how Manny millions in bad PR.

actually the first line sed it was a 2010 the point is dont give a test sled to a snowmobile publication unless you are darn sure your mapping is spot on even if you have to have a "special' hidden ecu program installed to make sure nothing like that happens

Ezra: I have read the same info as you and yes I ask why haven't they went to a power valve style like Cat, maybe in the near future Poo will do something like that, until then I will continue to say POLARIS FOREVER, RIDE A DIFFERENT BRAND NEVER!!!

Think about this for awhile. Why would Pol build protos to test last years motor? The '09's and '10's have countless remap kits issued by Pol. None of them work as well as a PC fuel controller. As has been stated the folks that went out and spent the ching for an aftermarket controller are happy. In my own mind a person should not have to do that in this day and age. The 800 engine in last year's protos behaved totally unlike the 800's of '09 and '10. More top end, no bogs and way better gas mileage. I hope all this gets into production for 2011. Pol needs a decent 800. We will soon find out.

Assuming that you're aware of the recent history of Poo's big bore failures, one can only come to the conclusion that you very well may have wasted your money. In your case, I hope you're happy with your sled and it turns out great and I'm sure you can't wait for the first ride. At leat for now, you're not like us previous CFI 800 owners who did waste our hard earned dollars and didn't get the product we paid for.

wow you just dont quit do you! I bought an 09 IQ800 and havent had any of these probs with blow ups and so forth. You seem to forget that ALL manufs. have probs. I have heard of everyone of the brands having engine trouble or something or other. NONE are perfect. If one was then evertyone would buy just that brand. Are you all aware that the new 800s have only 2 injecters instead of 4? I was told that that was most of the probs. the transition between the injrcters in mid range.

When I get screwed on a big ticket item, I tend to be a relentless b***tard.

The problems were the 4 injectors the 2011 pro rush has only 2 injectors, also they all have 2 ring pistons, unlike 2009 when they only had 1 ring, heat could take out the piston, Ski-Doo tried to get by a few years back and had the same problems with motors going down. The 2009 Polaris sleds had a recall and replaced the the pistons with new 2 ring pistons and heads and problem solved, then they got the re flash fixed after 4 different times, no more flat spots on the power band.

They also have a 4 year warranty on the new sleds.

If my new 2011 800 Pro Rush runs better than my 2009 800 Dragon then I will sell it next year for a 2012 800 Pro Rush!

I have both, if we have snow in Northern Wisconsin the week between Christmas and New Years this will be my first trip, I will tell how good the Rush is compared to my Dragon, if not no 2012 Rush!

My 2009 Dragon always ran great, my bitch was the weak rear spring, put in heavy rear spring problem solved. Polaris had a back order on these for 2 months.

I would like to find the dealer who would give you 6,800 for your 2009 800 Dragon with 2,200 miles on it.
I will sell mine and deliver it for $6,000 and mine only has 1,000 miles on it.

I think this is BS, nobody would pay that!

My highest offer was $4,600.
