question about doo 600 carb

Looking at sled prices today, the doo 600 carb seems like a great deal. How much Hp does it have? Anyone set it up with a holtzman ataac so jetting isn't something to deal with? How is gas and oil usage? It lists for a good discount to the efi 600 but I know that's different suspension, etc. Cat's 600's are all pricey, poo has the Indy but only in short track if you want a coupled suspension

all I know 4 sure is I kicked out $8249.00 otd for my 15 gade with a 3yr warranty with a 3 yr MN trail sticker. I think they are around 110hp.
I have a bud who had dial a jet in a 600carb summit he has been tinkering with the 600carb doos for a long time and loves them. after warranty I will prob do dial a jet just to have the ability to lean her out when I want. I am planning on changing out pilot one of these days.
look up nrascals on this site and shoot him a message not much he cant tell u about the 600carb and what mods work best

ATAC 600 carb

There was a post on how to do this on DOO talk, but was some years back. I have often considered this, and waiting on Ezra to report on his Rene. Small block 600 carb very solid engine. A friend of mine has had noting but fun with them. Good MPG on reg gas.

The 600 carb has around 110hp. My wife has a '12 TNT 600 carb. I drive a '12 apex. You cannot go wrong with this engine! It is bone stock and I have no intentions of doing anything to it for her. It is the perfect sled for her and she loves it! This sled has I believe a 10 gallon bottomless gas tank it seems. She gets roughly 16-17 mpg. BUT, she in no way rides aggressively. I do a lot of waiting for her to catch up to me. But I don't care. Just glad she loves to ride! Oil usage, hardly uses any. She can ride it 2 straight days approx. 250-300 miles before adding any. If you get it, you won't be disappointed!

And How!!!! Hemmed and hawed about getting a carborated sled again. The price on the 600 has been so reasonable I just couldn't pass it up.
I throw my arms up every time I push that electric star button too!! It's a great machine!!

I have 3 600 doo carb motors. a 2003 Renegade with the HO and 2010 Grand Touring with the 600 Sport motor and 2014 MXZ with the 600 Sport motor. The HO motor definitely has a little more grunt throughout the entire powerband and a little more top end. Its noticeable when you jump between the sled with the HO motor and the ones without. However, after some seat time, I dont really miss the extra power. The HO has DPM so I have never worried about jetting and my 600 sport motors have stock jetting and have never had an issue. The price is right on the sport motor and one **** of a deal compared to the prices on the ETECs and 4 strokes. I am considering replacing my Gade HO with a 2015 Sport 600. No regrets with that motor, has never let me down.

seriously you can't go wrong with this motor. had one in my 99 doo that had 11,200 miles before she blew.
I always got the best gas mpg. of anyone I rode with.
with my artic cat buddies they would always need gas before I did and this thing sipped oil compared to the cats. it was almost comical.
this motor is absolutely bullet proof.
for the ten years I owned it, it always started on the 2-3 pull, never failed.
never left me stranded.
you won't be disappointed.

it's just disappointing that its only offered in sport models now. But with the money saved on that engine/chassis, you can easily swap the shocks if you want a better ride.

I bought a 600 sport for her in 2012 when she decided she wanted to ride by herself, rode it a few times and bought myself a leftover 2012 the next year for 5800.00. The brother in law rode mine one weekend and replaced his polaris with a 2013 sport.(and he was i die hard) We all could'nt be happier. Just a nice all around machine/motor. I know some people upgrade the shock package and i will probably look into that when the time comes to replace the stock ones. Oh yeah-she beats me across the lake so I may have to clutch the thing or something. Aint right.lol

If you look you should be able to get a 2015 Sport 600 renegade manual start for $7,300 plus tax and no dealer fees, this is what my guy charges. At that price, buy one every year as you will get $6,000 back in March when you sell it on Craigslist. I know, I have done this for the last four years.
This year with the 3 year warranty for pre-orders I bought a 600 Etec renegade instead for a nickel under 10k plus tax. Hope to get $8,900 for my renegade in March with about 2,000 miles on it.

Thanks for all the input. I'm hoping to upgrade next season. $10k, $12k or more just isn't in the cards for me, and used sleds are high enough I'd prefer to just skip out on the some newer features and get something a little more basic new.

I have a friend who just got into snowmobiling this season and bought a2015 renegade 600 sport. Seems like a great sled for the money, I believe he said he paid around 7700 otd. We went to the UP in mid December and his mileage and oil usage wasn't too far off my 800 etec. Solid sled for the budget conscious.

only time I felt a little under powered was on a couple long grades when everyone else felt like really getting on the throttle for a few minutes.

But it's like on the highway when a guy passes you going 75 and your doing 60, then you both pull up and stop at the same red light; Your whole group will be stopping at the same places at the same times.
I rode the one I have now for four seasons/3100 miles. If I it sold outright today, it would have only cost me $400/year.
