Question for Tall riders

Sorry if this has been discussed before.
I currently ride a 2006 F6 sno pro, that I'm trying to sell because I made the mistake of riding my buddies new Arctic Cat El Tigre. The ride of that machine was so much more comfortable than mine it was unbelievable. It feels like I'm riding a Kitty cat when I'm on mine now.
My question is what is a good machine for a tall rider? Want something more Rider Forward
Don't wanna buy new and it doesn't matter what brand.
I'm 6'6" 215lbs.

Thanks

Do a little of both but mostly a trail rider. Would prefer a short track but may consider a crossover sled if the ride is any better.

I am 6'4 240 riding a Yamaha Nytro now and like most things about it. Rode a 2008 Skidoo Xp for 4 years and no problem with that either. I know the new YamaCats do fit well for the taller rider. I will get one of those in the next few years.

I am 6'3" and ride a Polaris Pro R. One of the reasons I bought it is because I am able to stangup and ride especially when crossing road with high snow banks like this year. I also sits taller and is easier on the knees.

the 09 to 11 crossfire with the mountain seat and adjustable bars can be had some what reasonable with very reliable motor. I am 6ft only but never feel cramped on the old M chasi. U deff want tom get the knee pad things on any more rider forward sled.
at only 6f I have always felt cramped on the rev ski doos . my old f8 was not bad if seat was set at tallest setting but that sled is trail only dont think u can make a 07 to 11 f chasi carve if your life depended on it

Both my sons are 6'5" and weigh around 240 pounds. They both ride a Ski-Doo 1200x with the 270/271 rear springs. They also have a 4''to 8" adjustable handle bar riser. Works well for them. The sleds are 2014s.

Bergs, I am 6'7 225lb and have ridden them all. I would recommend the 09-11 Crossfire with the adjustable handle bars and the mountain seat. If you want to get into the new body style, go with the High Country. It has the adjustable handle bars and the higher seat. You will feel like you died and went to heaven!!!!!!! The new chassis with that set up is the first sled I ever felt like was built for me!!!!!!

I'm assuming the mountain seat sits a lot higher than the stock seat? I thought they were just a lighter seat

Thanks for all the replies.

Average Joe has no idea what tall guys have to do to get sleds to fit. My previous riding bud was 6'6"& every sled he bought seats, bars & & windshields would be changed via the weather forecasts. Tall guys can not just mount stock sled & ride off in the sunset & it is a real problem.

I'd suggest getting on some sleds just for a feel. I am 6'4" and use to have a 04 Firecat and now have an 08 M8. I put a riser on both and a boss seat on the Firecat and the newer shorty Cat seat on the M. The M is night and day different then the Firecat. I agree with Whitedust that stock sleds don't work for tall and/or big people.

Right my 6'6"bud would sit on sleds at sneak peek reject or accept the model right there or know ok need this windshield seat & bars need to be changed. He liked sleds that he could sit in & spreadout didn't really embrace rider forward or stand up sleds but he was all about triple digits & straight lining any grade or trails like 107 hated tight twistys. He had a wicked need for speed on sleds & bikes. He was a bit of a PITA changing bars, windscreens & seats instead of riding but when below zero I understood he would suffer if not protected from the wind.

6'8" and ride an 2010 XP with seat riser sold by Ski-Doo along with knee wind deflectors.
I found it more comfortable than the Crossfire. I would like to get into the newer revs as they moved the foot wells further up and added more wind protection.

7 foot tall here. My only ownership experience is on Yamahas. On a 2012 Apex XTX now. Nothing will ever be perfect for me but this sled is as good as it gets for me. I am sure I could make it better for me by making seat a little taller
and raising bars, but get along fine with the stock set up. Last Apex had big boy spring on mono and shock revalve. Weighing in at 275 before gear, that change made a big difference on the mono. On the XTX, after one year
on it, not sure I'll make any changes other than dialing in the settings more.
New Ski Doos are nice for sit/ stand transition ease but at 55, my riding is sitting down these days.

I ran thru all the clicker settings & cam spring settings on my 2012 XTX this year & found clicker set very hard & cam on hard was the best setting to tune out kick. Bottoming was a non issue on any setting & I set for me with gear on board at about 230lbs.Rebound kick is a problem with CK & no rebound clicker so I have done what I can stock & only options left are revalve real shock or star suspension. I'm leary of star suspension & don't think front end will stay planted with all tranfer on track so looking for a shock rebuilder as best option. Let me know what you are doing? Thanks whitedust

Any of you guys been on a Polaris Shift 136? I haven't had a chance to ride or sit on one. Only curious because I see one for sale by me for a decent price.

Don't think you'll like it. Sits a little low compared to newer sleds and has a really skinny seat that you could use to floss your bum

Bergs-

I currently have an '11 shift 136". I'm 6/3 and I find it comfortable for me. It has a 3"-6" adjustable bar riser and I have it all the way up. Also using hand guards to help with wind. I put a low windshield on so it does get a lil chilly. My step dad rode it when we were up north and he was very impressed with the way it rode and how a person sat on it. BTW mine is for sale in the classifieds.
