The rooms are nothing fancy but very very reasonably priced at the watersmeet casino. Definitely comfortable enough for a snowmobiling trip. If you’re not a smoker make sure to request a non smoking room.

The Great Northern in Mercer is more than adequate for a snowmobile visitor. Bar & Restaurant in-house including breakfast and the food is good there. Large parking lot for trailers and such. Located on the trail, you can park your machine right outside your room. Prices are reasonable. The rooms are large, a bit dated but clean. Trails in Iron County IMHO are well maintained. It's not the Taj Mahal but it's just about perfect for snowmobile visitors.

I am sure some one can provide more info on this as what I heard is only hear say and probably from the 6 or 19th person. 8-12 years ago (guessing on the time frame) there was an old railroad bridge that was on this property or very close to it and apart of the trail system. The "locals" cough cough tore it down because they did not like the noise form the snowmobiles and ATVs. Any one know more about this, truth or false? Personally I have stayed away form this place because of this, if they tore the bridge down because of that reason I can take my money else where.

We stayed at the casino in Watersmeet last week for the first time. Nice rooms, clean, and pretty reasonably priced. A couple dining options, we had the pizza in the cafe and it was great. Bonus of 25% off rooms and food for military when you sign up for their players card (you need to show proof of service). The bad, it's a casino so smoking is allowed in the bar, restaurants, etc.

In the bar, and main casino floor. But not in the Restaurant, kinda sure not in the cafe. Saw there was a small gaming room that was non-smoking also.
Was there MLK weekend. Not sure about rooms, as we were camping in their parking lot.

Great Northern, Mercer, Wi, is a great place to stay. Definitely tends to get very busy on the weekends and if you like to park the sled and party it might be the best place in the northwoods to do so. Some of the best “off my sled” stories tend to revolve around the great northern bar. Gas and multiple food options close. This would be a better option if you want more stops and places to go. Rooms are dated but clean. There has been some issues with items getting taken from sleds, I have never experienced it. Trails are usually in good shape.

Casino is a good place also. Bar/gas/gambling/food also on site and options close. Rooms are like the great northern, nothing to write home about but good enough. Plenty of parking. Good starting spot if you want to hit more UP trails.

Can’t go wrong with either......but I am more inclined to rent a house instead of a hotel room. More room, more secure, cost can be comparable, full kitchens, etc....

The Casino in Watersmeet had Legionnaires disease a few years back. The whole place got shut down for months, why take the risk. no thanks

If everyone stopped going somewhere where there was a health risk once the world would be shut down. The problem there was corrected and has not been back.

Something got into the hotels water system.

Original disease was caused by a rubber hose Bush fix in PA Hotel I believe. No idea how it got into Watersmeet casino they were hushed up on cause and local TV interviews. I think they would have been better off with complete public disclosure but that’s my opinion.

It's a naturally occurring bacteria found in fresh water and soil. It grows in big water supplies that aren't maintained properly, which is why outbreaks happen in hotels and apartment buildings with big holding tanks. Best to stay locked in your house if you're worried about it. Better trails for the rest of us!

If that’s your choice ok with me but I do make healthy choices since many options.

Good location and can gamble at night. Place smells like smoke and is kinda dumpy. Stayed there a few times and does the trick. Place was packed Friday with trailers on ride by on Friday
