Rain In Vilas County

I'm sick of all the rain in the last 2 months and have not seen the sun in over 7 days. Lakes are at all time high levels no place for the water to go anymore and slowing down the pier installers. 45 degrees rain wind ,gray skies are no fun for the last 2 months. I believe in the law of averages when it comes to rain/snow but it sure would have been nice to have all these systems come thru in January & Feb. this winter when we so badly needed the snow and cold.

I hear you, we drove up to Door County last weekend and the water is back up to "normal" levels; nice to see boats moored to docks everywhere.
What sucks is we bought a new pleasure boat April 2, 2017 (we live in Green Bay, WI) and have not been on it yet; dang it's May 23 already! I told my wife it just seems to suck living here; the sled trails never opened because of lack of snow and ironically the year we get back into boating the temps are too cool.
What to do?

Bear,
We're just down the road from you in Neenah and I haven't as much as sniffed at our boat yet, still up on the jack stands where it's been for the last 9 months. I gotta say, snowmobiling and boating are two past times that are the most dependent on the weather. Nicer days are coming but they're few and far between sometimes.

I just knew when we had the warm weather late this winter that the spring would end up like this. My snowmobiling got messed up this year, like it did for most people, and now my golfing is suffering.

90 degree days are few and far between in Vilas. Not sure there was even 1 last summer.

When I was in Baily's Harbor, I last weekend the flies were out in packs.
Maybe there is a silver lining of missing the "Bay flies" as we call them in Green Bay; cant sit still on the boat without getting bitten. Best to stay in the water and dunk once a minute.

PD,

If my memory is any good, Frank did buy a carryover Axys 600 120" a couple of months ago.

Yes, a 600 XCR (hope I can keep up to Dan's 800). I hope I am good on power though. I was at Bergstrom Victory Lane two days ago and a sales exec was telling me about his Viper with Turbo and his escapades with speed; the guy likes to fast. Anyway, just two sledders who don't know each other whooping it up about last winter; we did have one thing in common though, each of us only had about 1,100 miles last season.

Saturday looks like the only rainless day in Vilas. I'll get the boat out for the 1st time hopefully, since I missed my Flambeau trip

Good luck... seeng rain on radar now moving from west ..was supposed to be dry until night on Saturday. Lots of peeps up already so nice to see everyone but rain out forecasted Sunday and Monday. It was very nice today sunny 68-70 got some lawn mowed that was very wet and have the sled and trailer by my garage ready for final clean up then will store in my toy lot for Summer and Fall. Then my Ranger will come out to play and meet water next week.:)

my friend..time to stick ur head in the sand..u sound very unhappy ov'r der

Hey Dan you live in this endless rain and again last night and again Sunday thru Wednesday of next week. We can't get anything done everything is wet or flooded. My neighbors both have their piers and lifts in same as me but no boats for Mday weekend too cold and nasty so far. This is like no snow in January and no trails ready for sleddin... May is the same prep work for summer boating and just about gone now. Hopefully June will be much better but the WI Northwoods can get stuck in these endless cold and wet patterns great for the winter not so good for Spring and Summer. So far we have been lucky to hit 70 a day or 2 and mired in 45-low 50s gray and heavy rain just makes it hard to get anything done for summer prep and home heat just shut off yesterday. I can bet if it afffected your UP sleddin you would understand our Spring Summer season delay delemia..lol

Our cabin by Hayward has a roll in adjustable dock and last year it was as high as it could go and the water was just under the bottom rail, little worried I'm gonna have to put some blocks under the wheels this year to raise it up further (just another thing to smash my toe on) As far as last winter, we had more thunderstorms in Feb and March then snowfalls :(
