My name is Skylar, I have been on John's site since 2000. I have been married to my wonderful wife Corie for almost 19 years now, and we have a 16 year old daughter. I am a solid surface counter top fabricator at Wisconsin Built, and my wife is a teller supervisor at one of the local banks.

My first trip to the UP snowmobiling was in 1991, and I have been going UP there ever since. I introduced my wife to the UP in 1993, and she fell in love with the area also. My wife and I bought 3 acres in Winona a few years back, just down the road from Twin Lakes, and someday we will build our retirement home there.

Sledding is on my mind 24/7/365 and that is no joke, there is not a day that goes by that I don't, at least once, think about snowmobiling, or something related to snowmobiling. :D

Might want to check your property value now. Sounds like Scott King just bought a place not too far from yours. Not sure what that will do to the neighborhood.

I'm Gary, not the far side, Larson. Been in Illinois my entire life except one year of college in Texas. Will be 50 this summer, still married to my first wife of 26 years Linda, have two kids that are both JR's in HS. Started riding a little real early in life with a friend and his sled, but really got started in the late 90's. Been on JD's site since 2000 eventhough I don't post much I'm here a lot. Built a cabin in Eagle River, WI in 2000 and decided I'd rather be a carpenter full time than a white collar business guy, so I started my own construction company. Sold the cabin in 03 (sometimes self employed doesn't pay much) but kept a sled. Worked for a couple construction companies as a construction manager, and kept my business going, but a year or so ago closed it up after I decided I was happy working as the project manager in construction for a large addiction recovery and mental health orgainization. While I wouldn't change the path my life followed, it's nice to be back in stable employment. Had a few sleds, always Cats, just picked up an 07 f8 and handed my 2000 ZL500 efi off to my son whom I do most of my riding with. Looking forward to riding the f8 this year and doing some off trail exploring. Mostly ride north of Houghton, or in northern WI by Eagle River or Hayward. Already have 4 trips booked into the Super 8 in Houghton for this year! Planning on coming to the Ride-In so it will be great to meet up with many of you.

Jeepbob, I'm sure there is a story behind your member name. My son has an 81 CJ7. Still in really good shape - all original steel. He's had it for over 20 years but I don't think it has left his garage for a couple of years. No time, too many young'uns to take care of. I'm trying to convince him that he should sell it but so far he hasn't taken my advice.

Pretty interesting to hear all of the names of all these northern Illinois towns that members call home. My dad was born in Granville, IL but was raised in Poplar Grove. In a weird coincidence, my wife's grandparents also lived in Poplar Grove at one time where he trained sulky horses - fascinating guy and a fascinating business. So I guess in a way, I have some connection to northern IL.

Welcome to the site Paul....go ahead ....don't be shy....lay it out there!

Gary ole buddy..."Will be 50 this summer, still married to my first wife of 26 years Linda, have two kids..." Better not let Linda read this one!

Contemplating something here buddy!?

Makes me laugh....used to play organized volleyball and one of the young brainless women asked my WIFE playing along side of me, "Are you the current Mrs...?" Ouch! I got whacked and was completely innocent...well, mostly!

Here is my gig. My name is Adam. I was born and raised in a small rural town in north central Mass, although I spent a large portion of my childhood at my Grandparents cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. My back yard was a few thousand acres of state forest that nobody used. It was "my" sandbox and I did what I wanted in it! I started riding my dads TNT 440 through the woods (along with dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, cars, trucks and anything else with a motor) as soon as I could pull the rope myself. I was armed with a hand saw and a can of orange spray paint to make my own trails where ever I went. There were no clubs, no groomed trails and no one else out there but me.
I moved to Illinois for school in the summer of 95. I decided to "play house" with a nice girl I met and 17 years and 3 kids later, I'm still in Illinois. I have been trying to convince my wife for the last 17 years that Illinois sucks in all ways. I finally have her convinced that moving out of this god forsaken place is a good idea, however I am now financially stuck here. I am desperately trying to find a way out without bankrupting myself, but if I stay here any longer, the state will do that for me!
I live, breath, eat, fart, and dream, snowmobiling. I discovered John's site sometime around 98 or 99, before there was even a discussion board here. I have been a hopeless addict ever since.
I can be an opinionated cynical ***** sometimes, but I mean no one any harm, and I fully expect anyone who takes offense or has a different opinion to fire back at will!

Oh yeah, and I like BEER!!

Here is my story, my name is Paul, I am 35 years old, I was born and raised in Dundee MI. I stated working with computer in high school after getting in trouble for hacking into the system. Never did get in trouble, just had to start helping maintain them and helping fix the issues. Right out of high school I landed a job in Information Technology at a local business. Met my wife in High school and married her shortly after and had our beautiful daughter who is currently 13. Changed jobs and had a very good job in the automotive industry as a network engineer. I was there 10 years when they moved me to Central Michigan, and then the industry went to crap. I moved to a new job, less money but great benefits so I will be here for a while. My wife and I were foster parents while I worked in the automotive industry, and finally adopted our kids 2 years ago after fostering them for 4 years. Had another child of our own after the 4 were adopted, our youngest is currently 2. Started snowmobiling in 97 when I found a cheap Arctic Cat El Tigre, ran it for a few years before it blew up. I purchased a new arctic cat for a replacement, and bought a few different ones since then. Have a cabin in MIO that we spend a lot of time in the winter, when there is snow. We don't have a ton of time for long trips with 5 kids under the age of 8, but spend a lot of time as a family riding around our cabin. I found John's site after getting my first snowmobile and have been around ever since. Originally offered to help John moderate the board and then offered to upgrade the board after all the issues it was having a few years ago because the amount of users increasing. John accepted and I have been helping with the board ever since. I am not one to post a lot, more of a behind the scenes person, but I try to make everything run as smoothly as possible.

Names Ryan (as you may have figured out), really need to come up with something more original. Maybe someone can give me a suggestion after reading my bio. Live in Des Moines, IA w/ my wife of 10 yrs and our two kids (Nick- 6, Addi- 2). After 15 terrible yrs of retail management, I decided I wanted more out of life, so I got into Banking. Quickly found out that wasn't for me, so now I work for a small software company that writes software for the Banks. I got into sledding about 10 yrs ago as everyone in my wifes family rode. I'll probably catch **** for this, but at first I didn't really understand what all the hype was about. Bad snow years, riding beat down trails and ditches did not appeal to me in the least bit. Then a few years ago, we had a totally sweet winter in IA and I got to break trail w/ my father in law several times. I was hooked from that day forward. Ever since that winter, I've been searching for that fresh powder. Just recently found this site, but to quote my favorite movie (Good Will Hunting), "Atleast I found it!!!". I really love the site, and do more reading than posting, but I appreciate everyones willingness to share info and not be over critical of the new followers such as myself. Although I've been riding for about 10 years, as I said earlier, I got really into it over the past few years and plan to FINALLY cut the cord from my father in laws sleds and get my first this fall. He's always had Polaris sleds, so I'm obligated to do the same (JK, I love Polaris).
