well I guess I will toss my 2 cents in
I personally like canister vacuums .U know the power head and a 5ft hose attached to the vacuum.
I have had a sears progresive thing for about 3 yrs we haul around for final cleanups on jobs.
after a yr I got the same one for the house .I like the led red green light that must have a sensor that picks up dirt going in to hose or something when it is green no more dirt.
I think the canister ones feel like they have more power . but what do I know go on a house cleaning fourm and see what the pros use.
I see a lot of maids in my travels and they are all over the place with vacs I see a lot of dison a lot of shark then lots of cheeps

I bought a Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away about one year ago and love it. It cost $225 and then I had 30% off coupon so got it for a pretty good price. We had an Oreck before the Shark and we thought it was doing a descent job until we bought the Shark. Wow, does this thing work. I used the Oreck a day before we bought the Shark and then vacuumed again the day we brought the Shark home, all I can say is wow. It was quite the eye opener on what the Shark sucked up out the carpeting that we thought the Oreck was picking up. We have carpet, hardwood & ceramic tile floors and this is a very good vacuum for the transition from the different surfaces. Also, love all the attachments.

Thanks that is what I was hoping to hear about the Shark Professional Lift Away seems to be best bang for the buck when compared to Dyson on TV. Attachments seem to be the most creative of all the other mfgs as well.

Riccar for home is 11 years old, bought one because the frat. house I worked at for 13 years had one for 13 years, lots of wear and tear. For the cabins we have a back pack Oreck now 13 years old and has been used daily.

We've had a Dyson DC-14 Animal for the last 12 or so years. This includes the last 6+ having 2 long-haired furry kids and the prior 6 having either 2 or 3. The Dyson has never even been to the shop. Yes, it's hyper expensive to start but at least as far as we're concerned, the cost per use is pretty cheap.

x2 on the shark. With 4 kids and a dog, we use vacuums. When my wife came home with this Shark things I thought, another piece of China made debris,,,till I used it of course. I have to say it's the best vacuum we have even owned but it's not as light as a Orek. So far it's the only vacuum i would say, lets get another when it craps out

With a tag like white "dust" ...you need advice?

If Yamaha don't make one then I'd say a Dyson....good enough for my ridin partner is good enough for me.

Bought the Shark Professional Lift Away on line with all available attachments & does a good job for $300. I like the smaller powerhead allows me to get carpet behind & between furniture where the Dyson is just to big to do that. The attachments work well to get under appliances sucked up some nasty stuff. Also included the Shark steam floor cleaner which also worked well on ceramic tile...a good deal for me.:)
