Hate to dwell on this subject BUT I was going back to my home town Waterloo Ia, and I get a call from my friend (bartender at Lakewoods Cable Wi) She is a very good friend and Doberman owner, rescue volunteer, And Mn rescue Dobe got a call from a shelter in Tama Ia that had a pregnant girl that needed to go to a foster home. So I transported this very pregnant girl to south of the MN/StPaul to another volunteer who would take her to the foster home. OMG this girl panted the first few miles. I turned up the air, made it to the next stop to hand her off to the next volunteer who was taking her to another volunteer that was taking her to her last stop, foster home. I have never driven so careful in my life. She is now at the foster Moms house, she will have her pups there( we have no idea who daddy is, she was picked up as a stray) But I feel so good to help out, I was just going back to IA for drs appts and this came up. I only had to travel 40 miles south of Waterloo to get her, but I feel so good I was in the right place at the right time. So that being said, there is alot of caring people that get paid nothing to help these fur kids out. The price you pay for a rescue is usually very cheap, since you get a dog that is up to date in everthing, but the volunteers donate their time. I feel so good I was in the right place and time to help out
. Thanks to everyone on this site that adopted a rescue. As those people know that have a rescue, they are the best. Your have to go thru some "tuff" times with them, but in end, it all works out. DON'T SHOP ADOPT

We have had two dogs that we rescued. Both Goldens. We had the first one for six years, and got her when she was six. The one we have now is five and just the the best bud in the world. I swear they know and give you extra love, his name is Mack, and he always looks like he's smiling. Hope you find a good home for your special friend.

Agreed. Our dogs are rescued and we've fostered others as well. One of our favorite charities is our local animal rescue.

While I was away on business, my wife decided to rescue an American Bulldog/Boxer mix. And I will admit it was against my wishes. When I came home the next week, this 120lb mass of white met me at the door with the "so ugly I'm cute" look on his face, thinking who are you? Well this dog has become my best friend in the year that we have had him, and has slimmed down to 100lbs. He is the most gentle and loving dog we have ever owned. When my 18 month old grand son was here he would crawl all over Dodge and lay against him like a pillow. All Dodge would do is look up at me with those big brown eyes, and you could see that he was saying "it's ok". The vet figures he is about 8 years old and may have been abused due to the arthritis that is in his hips. He will have a loving home for the remainder of his years with us. I highly recommend going to your shelter and saving an animal. Just makes you feel good inside!!!!

My brother rescued a pit bull named romeo. At first my mom was scared ****less. Now he sleeps in her bed when she "babysits" him. It is almost as if they know you have saved them from something. I got my boy when he was a pup from a guy that was gonna shoot him. Its like they know that you saved them cause he is the best dog I have ever been around. so loyal and loving. Mans best friend!!

Our terrier mix was actually born at the shelter. Got her a few years ago at a fairly early age (about 8 weeks). What an incredible dog! She just continues to amaze us. Talk about man's best friend - warms my side of the bed up every night that I don't get there first. Now if I could just get her to move over.

L M D - It makes YOU feel like the lucky one, doesn't it! To be able to do something like that, so the dog can find a family to give his love and devotion too. Great job!! :D

Everyone give your loving pet an extra hug today!!!

Puppies Born today

Belle had 3 Blue Boys, 4 Blue girls and 1 black girl this morning. She did have one that didn't make it :(
I am so glad she waited (like she had a choice) til she got to her foster home or I would have had to be a midwife going down the highway.!! And the daddy was a Doberman!
