I've been riding in the up since the mid 90's. Times had change since then back then if you were stuck somebody would stop and help you.If you were broke down somebody would tow you.And if it was a local guy that stoped he would do anything in his power to help you get back on the trail.You would try to give them money you would almost have to sneak it in there pockets because they would refuse.About a month ago i got stuck by myself 5 feet from the trail 4 sleds drove by didn't stop.2 weeks ago i was sitting on the side of the trail by myself again taking a break with my hood up nothing wrong just checking things out atleast 10 to 15 sleds went by not one check if everything was ok.I guess those days are gone nowadays i think it's 30% real snowmobilers that would help and 70% ricky racer/bobby boondocker/trail terrorists that just don't give a F@$%##.

I always stop and ask if everything's alright - have even laughed with (or were they laughing AT me?? )because I did this a few times with a kid in my hiking back pack and a kid in front...

I always check to see if someone needs help. We pulled a guy out of a tree ditch out west when it was him, his wife and his two kids and no saw, no shovel, no bungee, no nothing. We saw a sled sitting on the side of the trail with no one around and eventually found them.

Always slow down and looking for thumbs up or just stop to ask. Sometimes you get the weird look, but most of the time you get grateful smile and a "thanks for asking".

I always throw the thumbs up when passing hoods up on the side of the trail. Give me something to hook up to and I will bungee you out!

I always give a thumbs up and look for one back.... and always slow down when some one is stopped along trail... Just helped a kid out of ditch on trail 133 leaving the Gay Bar toward trail 124 on Wed. he came around corner and put the Apex in the ditch.... I didn't even speak just starting digging skis out and pulled his sled out.... alreally talked to his group at the Bar.... the kid sure gave me the wave when I let them pass, later on trail 124

I am thinking the bulk of the JDee crowd would slow down and get a thumbs up from you before moving on. That is how I have been taught. Same with motorcycles on the side of the road. I sure hope his continues but surely don't think so. Sad state with todays youth. But now I sound like my father.

I just pulled out a guy last weekend. Heading north out of Sidnaw, there's basically a U-turn up in some "hills" near the bears den overlook and he was hanging on the edge, literally ON THE EDGE straight down for quite some ways. He was stuck and I pulled him out. He could barely talk he was so scared...

Whenever I stop near trail for a break, I have always found almost to a rider everyone checks on me. I give 'em a thumbs up and off they go. How it should me in MI for me anyhow. I always check on others as well so must be karma?

I personally don't think it's as bad as many make it sound... People are always talking about people on the wrong side of the trail, riding too fast, etc. I've put on 2100 UP miles this year and never encountered any problems except for one time early this winter. I was stopped on the side of the trail kind of around a SMALL bend on the RR grade and started taking off slowly and looking behind making sure my buddy was ready to take off and all of a sudden a guy on an 800r DOO passed me doing at least 80 if not triple digits. He stops in the middle of the trail, gives me a few F bombs for no reason along with the bird, takes off spinning his track attempting to ride a wheelie but the skis never left the ground. Hopefully he's reading this... LMAO

You should never stop on a belt no matter how SMALL it is .Your lucky your not dead i'm not saying he wasn't in the wrong.But people need to think.

I never made it on the trail until he went by, I was still off to the side... It wasn't a bad spot to stop, I mean, there was a T a few hundred yards before it... Don't know how he had gained that kind of momentum by that time? I saw him riding standup past parkview that day going the opposite direction. For him to make it up there and already be going the other direction is insane. We ride pretty dang fast, never too fast for conditions/our ability, but how can you make it up there that fast and be going the opposite direction unless you are doing 100? That day we rode from Lando to Houghton and Back. It was 235 miles and it took us 7.25 hours we at lunch at the mosquito for 45 minutes, made 4 gas stops, and did a half hour of off-trailing. You do the math, and tell me that guy could be going the opposite direction already???

Oh he might of been doing 100 but what i'm saying people should never park on bends,turn . Even if you pull off the trail.Reason being the guy doing 100 those small bends are now tight corners then somebody sitting around the corner start to pull out on the trail. That when accidents happens.

Will always give the thumbs up and if I get one back on my way. If not will always stop to help. On idiots on trail, always going to be someone that does something that you dont like. No point in going to the net and complaining about it. Some people on here must live perfect lives, because other people piss me off everyday and I just go about my business and forget about it.
