I wish them the best of luck. That is a terrible situation to be in. I don't understand how a community could do that to their own residents.

I see Hornwinkles is closed for another day. This is also affecting businesses. The town and tribe should have worked this out long ago.

That's because those are the people that won't be getting back to there homes. The Tribe has responded on social media saying they will not stop residents from coming and going to there homes but they want to be compensated for what they say is there land and want an agreement done. They say the town isn't working with them.

It's a mess for sure.....If I had a home there of which I never would...Id hook a D8 to the chains and concrete barriers they put up and drag to the front door of the casino. They are too dumb to realize the beating they are going to take over this...it will only hurt them in the end. How this could get past a title company ill never know.

We will be closed today, Wednesday 2/8/23 do to the ongoing lockdown of our home by the Lac du Flambeau Tribe. Our freedoms continue to be under attack.
We have been told that all tribal owned landings will be closed to non-tribal members. White sand, Ike Walton, Little Trout, White Fish and all the others. No boat launching, parking, passing through on a snowmobile. Future use will require a special permit issued by the tribe.
Town Hall meeting with Tribe at 1:00 pm.
Private meeting for all home owners after meeting. Please message if attending.
Please Share.

In a dispute over the ownership of the roads within the reservation boundary, the Lac Courte Oreilles band in Hayward proposed banning non Indian access of ATV/UTV on county and town roads that lie within the boundaries of their reservation. Outcry ensued....negotiations are on-going while ATV/UTV access remains open.

From what I hear it sounds like this could have been avoided. The title company has known about this for years and the Government (BIA) Bureau of Indian Affairs has not responded to any requests to step in and help to resolve. Like anything, get to the table and start talking, you might just resolve the issue, but then again, maybe not, won't know unless you try.
