We went in February a few years ago. Took both of our children who were 5 and 7 at the time. We spent about 4-5 days in Rome then spent 4 nights in a small mountain town in Tuscany. That was by far the best part of the trip. We then went to Sorrento and spent 3 nights there. It is on the Amalfi (sp) Coast it is very beautiful but quite expensive. I would def. rec. a few nights in Tuscany (Cortona or some other smaller town.)

Congrats Ezra - speaking of go-karts, i know of a good go-kart track south of Naples. If you think the roads are nuts try the track. The karts are FAST, actually might be just as fast as the car you will get. Very little rules at this track. You wont get kicked out for bumping. People waiting to get on the karts stand right next to the track, never mind the chain link fence, standing behind that is for wimps. My sister took the last turn a little hot, went wide and through the on lookers. They scattered fast but not until a couple of teenagers got taken out at the ankles... Oh yeah helmets are "encouraged" but not enforced.

I want to go back!

Ezra,
Did New Years and a week in Rome 4 years ago with wife & college daughter after doing 2 weeks in Austria & Germany (skiing). Expect weather in the 50s. Avoid the buses (pick pocket capital of the world)and plan to do lotsa walking. Must read Dan Brown's Angels & Demons B4 you go. Heard that this tour is the hottest thing going. We stayed at a classic place http://www.hotelteatropace.com/ right by the Piaza Nivonna. Never left "old Rome" & still remember hitting the local grocery store (one on every block) to buy wine & beer for 3 euros or so to enjoy at the hotel. Have fun

One other thing you might want to prepare for is the euro$ to us $ exchange Brother went to Greece this summer and went to change over $1000 American to Euros and got back only about $600 Euros and things are more expensive than here.
