Key words here ( I know all)

Again I ask what is the weight of the Yamaha long track the would be compairable to a Renegade.

What is the weight to horse power of them Yamaha ?

I don't know & have no idea where to get that info if you have it share it not that that info would make any difference in how one rides a given sled. I get the feeling you want to turn this into Yamaha vs Doo disscusion which I have no interest as I like both brands & think both the doo Ace 900 & 1200 are good sleds & Yamaha makes good sleds too. Why all the questions about Yamaha long tracks has nothing to do with the merrits of the Ace 900 not comparable in hp unless you want to drop down to the Phaser at 80-90 4s ponies? Yamaha may have a new long track version of Phaser research it if interested.

I like the doo GSX 1200 as as said a bit light on hp for me but feel the same about Nytro engine just not happening for me in the 130hp zone. Always for me Renegade 1200 or GSX 1200 but more likely put mirrors & higher windshiled on Gade & would be closer to what I want don't like handle bars on GSX at all. I would like to see doo pump in 10-15 more ponies on 1200 GSX or Gade & would be very attractive.

I dont know the weights and have researched it with no luck. I would like to know i just thought you did. I like to find out all the info. I can before Igive out advise that might change ones thinking for them. Don't want to miss lead anyone.

I'am NOT interested at all in the Yamaha VS Ski Doo.
I have 4 Yamaha, 2 Ski Doo and 1 Polaris in the stable as of today and no i'am not a dealer just a snowmoile love.

When I hear the mention of 90hp on the new ACE 900 I think back to the mid to early 90's when a 500 liquid or 600 liquid was considered the norm for trail sleds. Our family had a 94 Polaris Xlt 580 triple that was rated at around 80-85 hp. That thing had 13,000 miles on it when we got rid of it, and we never touched the motor or clutches. Just rode the heck out of it. I think the 900 ACE realistically is plenty of power for a trail sled. Especially for weekend warriors that ride trails that require a lower velocity because of the amount of bumps. Low maintenance and decent performance. I think these factors will make the ACE 900 popular. I hope i haven't hijacked the thread. Just wanted to write down my thoughts.

As far as I know Yamaha does not publish sled weight dry or wet but American Snowmobiler does weigh sleds from time to time but who knows if they are correct or not? Power to weight ratios were popular during weight wars but I have not heard much in last 4 years or so maybe 4s broad powerband changed all that not really sure but mags not talking about it either. Could also be mfg weight not accurate so mags not comfortable working formulas with bad info but only a guess on my behalf also may just not be in vogue the thing to talk about old news type of thing?

ssdsts24, what I found by a few quick searches is the following, how true they are, who knows but the Ski Doo site lists theirs, found the Yamaha weights on some other sites. All #'s are "dry"

Renegade 600etech = 481lbs
Renegade 800etech = 490
Renegade 1200(4s) = 532

Not sure if these models would be the cross over to compare to the Renegade models?

Nytro XTX = 542lbs
Apex XTX = 630

Don't worry, you're not hijacking the thread.

I believe you are correct in your statements.
If you're looking for a good, all-around sled how can one not consider the 900ACE?

I had an Indy 400, a XLT, a XCR, a XCSP500 as well as an Apex and a couple Shift 600's and next season I will be on a 900 as for my riding, it should do just fine. Sure, it may not be the fastest but where I ride the majority of the time it will be fine. It should last a long time with no worries of an engine failure, no valve adjustments, no power valve maintenance, no more injector oil to buy, and if anyone had a chance to demo one, they'd agree that they are extremely smooth AND quiet!!

New 2014 Yamaha Viper LTX SE 136 or Viper 141 if you like I believe the 2014 Gade 1200 would be 136 ripsaw so probably 136 rip saw to 136 ripsaw would best comparo between brands. All I have heard about Viper weight goal was 50lbs less than Nytro was the sales bs at the sneak peak show but would not be XTX version would be 121 version again no idea where to get that weight. If you can get 2014 Viper weight I sure would like to know. In any case I'm sure it would be heavier than any doo comparo as doo leightweight champs. I would think Gade & Viper 136 ripsaw right in there in 135 class 4s but then Yamaha rear exhaust engine was dynoed at 139hp no idea about front exhaust?

Thanks xcsp
I looked for that the other night with no luck.
If you you find out the weight of the new viper could you post it or let me know.
I think the viper is going to be a great sled for Yamaha and I also think the 900 Renegade will be a great sled for Ski Doo.

Thank You Again

Only 1 day left to spring order. I think we will give the Renegade 900 ace a go. In hopes coming off Renegade 600 SDI will not be disappointed. Canadian trips some what concerned with power, and being able to cruise at speed all day.

Ordered the 900 Gade this weekend. Can't wait! Took the 900 out for another test ride this weekend, but it was just on a pond. Couldn't get much traction out of the hole due to being on the ice. Still had fun and looking foward to next season.

Ordered a 900 Gade Saturday too and I didn't even get the chance to ride one. It sounds like it's going to be the perfect trail sled for the Norhtern Wisco trails.

Kept my 600 etec GadeX for comparo so we'll see how they stack up. Figured if nothing else, with the light throttle pull it will be perfect for the wife.

Ordered 900 ACE Renegade. Enough thinking, just did it. Nothing like waiting til the last day! Would like to thank all for your input and comments as I was not able to get to demo ride one. The lady will get this one, I'll get the next. And just a special thanks to Greg, for the detailed info.

Thanks Old Abe! She is gonna love it! This was a very useful post for those interested in the 900! Nice to see good info on the internet and not some of the mumbo jumbo that muddy's up the World Wide Web! I can't wait to see owners responses next year!
