Satellite TV in the UP

I never complained about you giving your tips, just the tone of your delivery.

BTW, I checked the maps and was in the white, which was no service. Same with TTE's camp location.

I have demoed the wireless broadband cards for the laptop, but the speed was not much faster than dial up.

Coverage in the UP is filling in slowly but surely, but still a lot of dead spots, especially for wireless and/or broadband.

how about we start again eh?

well i did some checking and i found out how you all can get TV as long as you can post and read this site.....you can also do it with an XBOX....

http://www.pctotvconverter.com/
FlyImage3000 will do what you need. FlyImage5000 has same kind of features but adds remote control

http://www.pctotvconverter.com/flyimage5000.php

The XBox 360 is the path from PC to TV and for the other direction be sure to look at ATI or Hauppauge solutions that mention Media Center Edition so it all ties up and works.

heres the TV TUNER CARD if you puter dont have one and

http://www.hauppauge.com/

http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr1600.html

heres for IPHONE

http://orb.com/iphone_how

you already have an internet connection at said cabins i take it....if not use the phone modem along with these things....if you can read this from the cabin TILLTHEEND, then youse in brother....nother thing i'd try....look in START...ALL PROGRAMS...ACCESSORIES....ENTERTAINMENT or MEDIA CENTER should be right there...then get the MC FLY 6000 BABY AND OH YA....fire up MEDIA CENTER and add in zip code and WALLA

WIRELESS MC FLY 6000

I'm relaxed, I just thought you would throw the answers up there for me. I don't think any amount of reading is going to tell me where YOU use this or who YOUR provider is.

my provider is WOWWAY and VERIZON...i use this primarily in the city but tell MEDIA CENTER to get the digital signal from NAPERVILLE ILLINOIS as it has more PORNO CHANNELS than here in the anis of america....you just open MEDIA CENTER if you travel to the cabin far away and enter the area code...or you can get sneaky and enter an area code from ARIZONA even though your doing this from NELMA WISCONSIN and lie to the computer....it gets its GUIDE DATA DOWNLOAD FROM ZAP2IT which is accessable from I-65/I-294/I-94/I-55/I-355/I-90 in my area.....and you

http://www.zap2it.com/

i hope these are the answers you so desireth

heres how to use the XBOX at the cabin for TV

http://www.pcworld.com/article/165362/cancel_your_cable_watch_tv_on_an_xbox.html

down in this article the dude states this....this is what i have been doing and works rather sweet....which is a slighty different way as all i mentioned in that you already have it in you puter IF...IF....you didnt cheapout

little explanation: For years I had a pretty sweet setup. I crafted a media center PC, loaded with digital tuners, that serves as the hub in my house. It records all my shows, and it spits out whatever I want to watch over my home network to my Xboxes. Simple, clean, effective.

Thanks guys, ummm ya right now I beleive that there is only dial-up service no broadband....and well one time about two years ago my buddy got a call on his Alltell in his deer blind which is about a mile from my camp....It was the only known occurence of a wireless call near Misery Bay. Well sat phones work great on the beach but just not practical. Now Verizon, AT&T, cellcom or Sprint all lose it at the same spot roughly 6 miles from my camp by line of sight. And I kinda like it that way, theres only 6 people in the world... and somehow a couple telemarketers that have the landline phone number there, its a hideaway. Sooo Im back to satellite and at home I have At&t Uverse service which is super slick and under contract for another 2 years. I never thought I would bother to get satellite up there but the lack of not even one local station pushed me over the edge this winter. I'll probably just go with Dish Network since there total cost over 2 years is less than directs right now.. .and the most basic of channels is all we need up there, and they do seasonal if I would want to in the future.

ok TILLTHEEND but theres 2 little things ya should know...one is if you have a landline there then you phone company can provide DSL BROADBAND through it.,....so......DOH

good thing ya said ya already had a landline.....you guys too funny

and then theres stuff like this.....

wireless air card is a solution
by poodlenme - 3/14/09 10:53 PM In reply to: Tether your Phone??

you would have to sign a 2 year contract. Even if you got hughesnet sat internet, which is rotten and worthless.

I ended up getting a sprint aircard that plugs in my usb port on my laptop. $60.00 a mo. cheaper than hughesnet at $86.00 a month and is faster, more reliable, and connects to everything. hughes either blocks sites on purpose or its sat feed is so bad some people cant even see ebay pages...

I have a 2 yr hughesnet contract...working on getting it removed right now.

I am rural and no cable or dsl is available out here. its either wildblue...extremely slow and expensive or hughesnet..faster, but many sites arent acesssible.. air card from cell phone company is lots better!!!

all accessable from your landline and phone company....hey...we came full circle....you guys is a hoot

With a Go-Digital system one land line can deliver 6 different dsl lines to a nij at a residence. There is better technology out there also,it depends on the computer on each end! The terrain has alot to do with digital signals and can be hit miss by a few ft.
