Western IL April ride

Once in a while that freak storm comes through so I dont put the sleds away untill we finish planting corn. I rode 30 miles around April 15 quite a few years ago! I went to a weather meeting last week and There apears to be a better than average chance of cold fronts slamming through the midwest so I want to be ready!

Bummer

A friend of mine said to me the other day,...
something that really made sense, but in reality I probably
didn't want to hear.

"Ya know Vin,... You at least make it to the U.P. a couple times a year,...
But for those that don't get the opportunity whether it is because of finances or
schedule conflicts,.... and only get to ride locally on the weekends,....We only had
(ride-able) conditions at best for 7 weekends this year."

Wow,... He is right.
And now he's considering selling the sleds.
To maintain optimum yearly maintnance, insurance, ect.,...
and to spend 10 to 11 thousand dollars on a new one,....
With today's economy, you won't be seeing too many "New" sleds
around OUR area much in the future I guess.
ATV sales and their popularity will dominate.
You can utilize all 12 months in some way.

Me, I still hold out "hope" for at least ONE new sled in the next couple years,...
Those new Cat's have really spurred my attention,....
Snowmobiling means too much to me to "give it up",.....
But I can see others points of view.
Changing of the times I guess.

I wanna kick the "fat lady" right in the same groinal area I kicked
Mother Nature. But it doesn't do any good.

So,... I raise my glass and toast with YOU my friends,... for the great bond we all share,
John and Nora for sharing their lives with us, and another season of good health to us
all,.... so we may find NEXT YEAR's season LONG and Enjoyable!

(now where did I put those ear plugs,.... that Fat Lady's voice is killing me!)

We still have hope for one last ride end of march. It's those darn roads even if it DOES dump.

Some of the best riding we ever had was the kids' spring break 3 years back. Saw maybe 10 other riders the whole week! But they had a great base so even with warmer temps it was all still good. Not like the 2 big warm ups this year.

Looks like the riding is in Missouri!?! How much did they get??

Ive been going the last week with my kids spring break for the last 7 years, its hit or miss, but if there is snow, its the best time to go riding with the kids, warmer out, less traffic, keeping my fingers crossed, 9 days to go

Looks like its done here though ,but i will be at the last isoc race in lake geneva on saturday.

I believe trails officially close on april 1st, insurance thing, but they have extended the season before when there is snow,

There will be a group prayer to the snow gods at 8pm tonight. Crack open a beverage with me and lets pray.

I was praying last night, I will again tonight and every night unitll the 27th, thats when my sleds will be officially put away for the season, and knowing my luck, the UP will get dumped on, on the 28th,
