Say it ain't so

My whole point on that was thousands of miles up and down the salty interstate on an open trailer makes more of a difference than "all UP miles" vs "IL or southern WI miles".

yes but what you're failing to grasp is even the UP has a begnning of the season and an end of the season and they also have warm ups. I've driven in some bad conditions in the UP and up north and i've driven in some bad conditons down south.

to put an ad out and you're selling point is "UP miles" i just find it funny.

Ok, I'll disagree. Sleds ridden in good conditions do suffer less wear than bad conditions. I have a sled with 10K miles on it ridden almost entirely in good conditions and it still runs on the original track, bogey wheels, etc. I changed the idler bearings last year for good measure but they were all still good. Good luck with that running in the dirt and rocks that are regular occurrences down south.

Yup I rode Dec 1st last year bombing through puddle after puddle at 3 am up to Houghton. Started raining on our way back couldn't make it to Bergland from Greenland (no snow) so we cut across 10 miles of bare road to trail 8 and rode 15 miles on a 4 ft wide swath of slush kicking up gravel the whole way into Bruce crossing...

Well I think people are using phrases like:

"up north miles or UP miles" to mean ridden in better than average conditions.

And they also use:

"female driven" or I've often seen "adult ridden" to mean ridden in a manner more gently than average

My statements are based on the implied meaning rather than the literal statements. Of course you can ride in horrible UP conditions, I've done it. Also, a female or adult can be a racer wannabe.

So I'm just saying if there is truth to the implied meaning of the statements, then the sled would likely be in better condition than average. These factors can be important regarding the condition of the sled; however, the maintenance and the lack of structural damage due to any type of accident being more important.
