hard to say if you need them what sled do you ride? what kind of trails are you on when you are on trails MN hard ice or sugar sand snow type stuff? how much time do you spend on the trail?I have them on my M1000 2 1/4 153 with a tinny cooler so if I want to ride around my house MN metro I dont have much of a choice on the hard packed ice trails with not allot of space to duck off and catch fresh snow to keep her cool. even with scratches you can catch a whiff of hyfax now and then if it is real hard icy crap but I rarely find my self in those conditions would rather ride my lazy boy than that stuff.I guess the only down side is it is 1 more wear item to have to carry around at hay days every yr

yes, they do wear out. It's just steel dragging on the ground. gravel and roads will wear them faster. But they'll last a season or two for sure. I have SlideKicks. They are cable and you can back up with them. The other types are cheaper, but if you forget them down and back up, they get all bent up.

Depends mostly on the track. I have an '03 F7, 128" X1.75 lugs. Lugs are closer together than a 136 or 144, had to put them on, I was melting hyfax like crazy. They are done all teh time unless there is fresh, non packed snow on the trail. Cheap insurance to keep the sled cool and slides cool...

You can't really put ice scratchers on 121's, the snow that gets kicked up is lucky to end up in the track/suspension.

I did that to my sled this past fall but took it out and never tried it, it's a pain loading on and off the trailer!

A little off topic put how much of an affect does that have on steering?
