Scratchers? What type is your favorite?

I've always run the "coat hanger" type scratchers in the past.

I'll be installing some scratchers on my 14 XF7000ltd this season.

I can't decide whether to stick with the "coat hanger" style. Or go with the Dura Flex cable type.

What type do you prefer?

I use the duraflex. Works fine for me. I have heard people mounting two sets on them also in the spring. I would never remember to lift when reversing.

do u really need them with a 1 1/4?
I rarely use them with a 2.6 and only a small f cooler

I'm thinking the lug size wouldn't matter a whole lot if running on really hard pack trail, or ice. Very little gets thrown up into tunnel.
Especially with no studs to break it up and get onto cooler, and hyfax. I was considering them on my fan cooled to get my hyfax cooled down, and lubed.

Exactly. I watched the coolant temperature gauge get into the "really uncomfortable range" while riding icy hard pack last season. No place to "grab some snow", so we had to keep moving to keep air moving through the radiator. Didn't smell any plastic, but I'm sure the hyfax got plenty warm too.

Pretty sure cable style is it. I know I'll forget the scratchers are deployed. These seem interesting.

Those are not Duraflex. Can't remember the brand though. The main guy over at TotallyYamaha.com runs them and likes them.

Ezra - as another poster indicated, in the AM when a trail has been fresh groomed the night before, these help kick up snow to lube and cool the sled. Most times I only run one down at a time unless there's a really hard crust.

they were set up like that long before scratchers were main stream . not saying they dont do something but dont see my self ever slapping them on a short tracker .lol back in the day of the rubber band 1/2 in or less lugs I was known to stick the track to a few set of slides ridding on what passes for snow in desperate times .

Between the lines designs make those.

I bought a set of the reversible ski mounted scatters last year. Worked as advertised; snow and ice were tossed into track and kept sled cool and did not overheat like in the past.

I've got the wire style on my sled and the Duraflex on my wifes. Both RMK's with 2" tracks. I only put the ones down on my sled maybe 1 time per year. I have my wifes down all the time because I don't expect her to look at the temp gauge ever to see if its running hot, thats why she got the Duraflex models on her sled.

I do have a new RMK coming this yr and I do think I'll put the Duraflex on it but may never put them down. And I may need to get another set for my old RMK as that is going to the kids and I suspect that, like my wife, they'll never look at the temp gauge either.
