Rode from Plymouth west towards Fond du lac (South side of Hwy 23). Trail was very good and groomed. Rode south towards Cascade and met a groomer. Again...trail was good. No base but plenty of snow. Trail east towards Waldo was not groomed and poor. From Waldo North back to Plymouth was fair to Good and groomed. 4.5 hours of driving for 2 priceless hours of snowmobiling with my family. Kids loved it. Life is good.

Great to hear Chris,
The intersection you turned to go east to Waldo you were a mile north of me. I stop grooming at that intersection. Next intersection south is in my yard.
Kids were out last night and said the trails were awesome. My thought they were happy just to ride at home and ride some trails they help maintain every year.
Seen at least 40-50 sleds yesterday, glad to see everyone out. Hope this isn't the end.

Well I'll get this started for 2019.

Sheboygan county has majority of trails open this morning (1/25/19). Here is the report:
scosled.jpg

Manitowoc County has trails closed but clubs are out panning to prepare bases as well as accumulate snow with the blowing conditions.

Viking Sno-Riders are holding their winter brat fry / chili dump at Viking Bow and Gun Club south of Valders on Saturday, 1/26 from 10 AM to 3 PM. Sled dealers will be on site with demo sleds for riding Noon - 2 PM. Come support a local club and find a sled for the wish list!

Dave,

Thanks for brining my old thread back to life! The forecast for Sunday/Monday looks very promising. I think we’ll be riding groomed trails in Manitowoc/Sheboygan County soon!

Howie - Make sure that groomer is ready to go!!!

Chris,
no problem. It has been a while since I had something to post about. I know several Manitowoc Co. clubs are hoping for good snow total on Monday too. Low lands are nice and solid but we just need more snow to get open.

Hopefully I'll have some views from the groomer to post next week!

Dave

Yes I have been out the other day. Everything has been groomed once except for the Boltonville, and club trail west of Random to Adell due to swamps.
Plan on hitting them this weekend.
Broke some equipment last time out.
Just about ready to hit the Adell to Random trail that didn't get done due to the swamps there.
They were ridden down so should be good to groom.
All other clubs were out in force this week also before the winds and should be ok.
Just be careful due to first time open this year.
Should drastically improve this week.

Brother groomed Northern Manitowoc, Southern Brown and Western Kewaunee Co's this past weekend in attempt to keep the snow there packed down. He is hopeful the trails will open after this snow we are suppose to get in the next 48 hours.

From Viking Sno Riders in Manitowoc County:
The news we have all been waiting for!!!! Tuesday, January 29th our trails will open at 6am!
Please be respectful to landowners and stay on the marked trails.

Make sure to have the current registration sticker and trail pass on your sled.
Take caution on plowed ground and call 758-SNOW before riding for updates on trail openings and closures.

Thank you to our groomer operators for working on the trails in this snowy weather.

That’s great news. Looking forward to a great day of riding on Saturday. Hopefully the 48 hour warm up won’t do too much damage to the trails. Would love to see the trails open for the month of February. After the last 3 terrible years, I think we all deserve it!

Good chance they will close the trails early Saturday AM to try and minimize the impact of the warm up.

Will be out grooming west today here in Random Lake area.
Beechwood is out today.
Tomorrow will be out doing the east side trails again.
Will continue to be out daily.
Would watch the Web site as for opening and closing.
Haven't heard anything as for closing as of now.
There are some club rides planned as of today.
Howie

Out grooming today. Going well,we has a nice base with all the blowing we keep laying it out. As if it's snowing every day.
Will be out tomorrow also.
Beechwood groomed yesterday.

All of Adell, Random Lake Batavia trails are all groomed in again. Were done yesterday and today. Beechwood is doing theirs tomorrow. Other clubs are out also.
Have fun on the trails.

Grooming.jpg Drifts.jpg Spoke to my brother last night who was grooming northern Manitowoc County. He was on the tractor until 2 am this past morning in attempt to have one good weekend to ride this year. Most of the trails have now been groomed 2-4x's. When the wind was blowing, they were grooming to set a base. Last night was to knock down the last drifts, many which were 4' or better as you can see in the photos. Bottom line, the trails overall should be in great shape, but use caution in areas that have high blowing. Enjoy while you can.

Spent a couple of hours grooming Western Manitowoc County this morning in the Valders area. Plow ground areas are ok and remaining areas very good. Manitowoc County trails open until Sunday morning at 6AM.

Enjoyed a nice ride with my family on Saturday. Started in the Wilke / Cedar lake area and rode trail 3S to Elkhart Lake / Sheboygan Marsh for lunch. 50% of the trails were good (snow covered and groomed), 30% were fair, and the remainder were poor (stretches of plowed fields that had no snow at all). Had lots of fun but by 1PM, the 36F temps were already beginning to take their toll in the low snow sections of the trail. Glad they closed the trails 6am Sunday. Hopefully they will reopen with more snow at some point in February.

I put on 110 miles all over Sheboygan County Saturday. After 1:00 pm the trails started getting bad. Today there is almost no snow left we will have to start over from nothing AGAIN.
