Sled exhaust VS Harley exhaust

I'm sure this has probably been brought up before, so I'm sorry if this is somehow a repost. I'm not the type to have aftermarket exhaust on my sled, not my thing. I'm just a little confused why sled noise is so frowned upon and regulated in the snowmobile industry but any douchebag can scream through a neighborhood after hours on a Harley and nobody bats an eye. I am neither for or against the noise but why not be consistent? Before I get the hate mail responses. I only think 94.687993% of Harley guys are douchebags. I have many friends and family with Harleys and I own one as well.


Harley douchebag definition -Usually an insurance Agent, always looking angry, covered in Harley brand clothing. Only miles logged are to the Harley store to buy more Harley brand merchandise. Wearing as much leather as possible and giving everyone the evil eye. Clears out the throttle 87 times at every stoplight and looks at every car like they owe him something. Passes a car to get in front of them and slows down. I'm sure i'm forgetting something.

I agree on the annoying harley noise .
nothing worse than being trapped behind one on a no passing road with the top down I just pull over let a few cars pass then go.
and they are not all insurance agents. a lot are hen pecked men who need to get out of the house and feel like a man for a hr or 2.
but hey if u can afford a weekend Identity and have room to store it when working at the office all the power to u.ok not all harrly guys U say 94.68% I will give only 90%

Private property #1 issue
bikes drive on roads owned by the Gov and for now roads can not be taken away just your license
most trails run over privet property and can be taken away at any time by a annoyed land owner.
eave land owners neighbors can ask land owner to pull trail because of sledders waking them at night or going off on to there winter wheat or what not.and the land owner will more times than not value a neighbor more than a snowmobile trail that is nothing but a extra burden for some owner any way

I dont know if its still on tv, but quite a few years ago there was a southpark episode all about the harley riders and their pipes. Funny.

Your whole intention is to bash Harley guys. Well I know about 60 of them in here. Walk lightly. Your thread has no comparison going it is a direct bash. I take it personal.

This reminds me of a prank we pulled on a co worker. He had a bumper sticker that said,"loud pipes save lives". We used a pipe label program to replace the bumper sticker with, "loud pipes get run off the road". The sticker turned out so well,he didn't notice it for over a month. His fellow club members pointed it out to him. We all had a good laugh. He is a member of the Outlaws. Great observation Chilly,great response Ezra . Just because you have drag pipes or a can,doesn't mean you can't run them and respect your fellow man.Even a Outlaw finds drag pipes sometimes annoying . The worst offender is the 19 year old,in the Honda Civic,with a coffee can for a muffler. Is there anyone out there that can defend that ear ringing BS?

BTW I had to buy new pipes for the BSA .after 56yrs the baffles were just a tad wore out. I like my sleds to echo through the Vally.
on my bikes not so much.
on a side note I have seen many guys 1 handed riding bikes and texting ***

PR1 are you kidding me?! I had zero intentions of bashing you or anyone else. Most are posers. PERIOD. I've never seen an offer to set up trucking out west. Of course I didn't respond because I (A) never saw it or (B) you never sent it. If I would have seen it I would have responded and went. Next, I don't even know what a road captain is and I could care less about the sixty guys who on here who ride, It's a snowmobile site! My question had TRUE intentions and somebody answered it. The answer made complete sense. The question stemmed from my home backing up to busier road and having a 2 and a 4 year old that I have to put to bed every night. They finally go to sleep and a POSER flies by with an aftermarket pipe and wakes them up. Got me thinking about why the two sports aren't regulated the same, that is all. EZRA answered it. For you to take it personal is completely rediculous. I get most of my good info from you and others and I have nothing but respect for you and the others until now. I've never killed anyone and having a 2 and 4 year old in the car ALL the time, I'm never on my phone in the car. Property PIMP? Seriously? I own a chain of children's clothing stores. I list houses for a summer hobby. I don't even show houses. I LIST only! Not even the same. "Walk lightly" LOL, what is this? THREAT? Sons of Anarchy? Gimme a break. I don't fear you or anyone else "ROAD CAPTAIN" come get some you washed up cowboy. Fact is, I asked and honest question and EZRA answered it to a T. You then over reacted over absolutely nothing.

What I don't understand is the double standards. In the past I've had my fair share of loud vehicles (open headers on a BBC, Zoomies on a SBC, duals with no mufflers, etc etc), and while driving every one of those vehicles I got pulled over and ticketed for the loud exhaust. Yet well I was getting ticketed a motorcycle (not always a Harley) could/would ride by and could be heard for 10 miles down the road and they never got a ticket. I just feel if your going to ticket one type of vehicle for loud exhaust then ticket EVERY loud vehicle no matter if it has two wheels or four.

Please don't question this topic or voice any type of opinion. PR1 and 59 others are watching, listening and ready to strike at a moments notice.

That was said so you had an idea of your comparison. No harm meant from me ever. I can get your sleds west cheaply. Please check IM

Water under the bridge PR1, I honestly never saw the PM. I will look now. I never said all Harley riders, plus I thought you had an Indian for some reason anyway.(LOL) I really value your knowledge on the site. You've been everywhere and are a HUGE asset to me and alot of others on the site. Sorry if I offended anyone on here, it was an honest question seeking a valuable answer which I got right away.
