we rode all around walworth county this weekend and the trails were great.
as we entered into zenda a sled was stuck on the tracks. his ski got stuck between two
rails where there was a switch. there was about 20 guys trying to pull the sled out and could not, one of the locals got a sledge hammer and we were able to hammer out the ski.
someone in the crowd took a picture and i would love to see it because in the big rush to get it out before train comes i didnt get a picture
thanks for your help

Indy would have tore the whole sled apart, got it off the tracks, and rebuilt it while the twenty of you were having your coffee and doughnuts, just watching the kid work! lol!

lol if it really was that hard to get it off, i would've torn apart the front suspension or taken the ski spindles right off.

This happened to my dad/group of friends twice. Once was up north, they got it out after about an hour. The other time was close to home. Let's just say that one isn't around no more.

My Dad did the same thing years ago over around the Trout Lake / Gaylord area on his original Yammy V-max! Had to do the exact same thing. Several guys pulling on the backend, while someone was up front beating on the ski with a peice of timber.

Was riding with a friend at an approved crossing and we were crossing the track at a 90 degree angle and his carbide caught at about 5-10 mph. It was an old mach 1, it twisted the sled sideways and brought him to an abrupt halt and bent the trailing arm on that side. Always makes me very tentative when crossing railroad tracks. No issues with the sled, ski or carbide before or after the incident.

A few years ago as we were walking out of Bear Trap I remember a ski-doo being pulled in with a bent trailing arm. The guy told me it happened on the tracks in Shingelton. You maybe?

Years ago I plugged my sled into a switch on the north side of Newberry. The whole intersection was bare pavement, I thought if I just jumped over the tracks before the intersection I could ride in snow on the other side. The track grabbed the left ski and instantly I am in between the rails and moving right along. I saw the switch coming and thought I could floor it and pull the ski's up over it, Big mistake!

The bolt that held the ski on actually wedged between the rails and pried the switch open a couple inches. After breaking a tow strap twice yanking on the spindle with a 4wd pickup it came out. All the guys that came out of the bar during the extraction were making train sounds, WOOOO HOOOO!!! I was scared to death a train would come.............

My RR experience was in Tomahawk and we kicked the trailing arm straight and drove it to Tomahawk motorsports, bought a trailing arm and replaced it in the parking lot.

Had the same thing happen to a buddy's sled a few years back. One guy in our group pulled his bumper off trying to pull the stuck sled with a tow strap. Ended up calling another friend who came with his diesel truck and finally broke it loose.

Not funny from your point of view (i unerstand) but was funny from where we were standing. Glad it all turn out for best. Saw a post earlier about "snowmobiling is a learning experience"....yep i don't mess around with RR tracks....learned from watching Marty!!

Zr, thats funny you saw that!!! After I got up off the ground and looked around I thought, I sure hope these are abandoned tracks, kicked the snow off the rail, they looked like chrome. We tried using a rr tie that was laying there like a ram against the spindle, didnt move a bit.

That was Timber Charlies, my wife went in there and got a guy with a 4wd truck to yank it out. The whole time I could picture a train derailing because I was a moron!!!!

Now we always ride with radios, so anytime we see a train or cross the tracks I here WOOOO HOOOO, WOOOO HOOOO!
