And it was one of the worst nights to be lost. The wind and snow was howling from the north all day and night. Makes me want to put a pup tent in the back of my sled.

Not surprised by that.
Hope your info about them potentially being close to being found is correct. If it were me, I would have hunkered down, built some kind of shelter, a big fire and prayed for S/R!

can someone repost the map that Dave B. supposed posted. I can't find it. I know this area VERY VERY well. We just returned home from there. We followed a creek bed a little too far down a hill on Saturday just south of the Porkies and it took us a few hours to get out. One of the creek beds I fell into trying to get out had snow over 10 feet deep! Sucked getting out because it was up hill! It was a blessing to have 7 guys because eventually we had a compacted trail for guys to follow out. We were on the outskirts of the Porkies and within about 1 mile of it's border. It was crazy deep and crazy cold! We ran in to a survey crew probably 10 miles north of where M-28 and the Presque Isle river intersect. Wonder if they saw anything?
The Map is in the "area conditions forum"
I sure hope they didnt try their hand at off trail on south boundry rd.....thats got some spur rds that are closed and you can get deep in there, a walk out is not good...If i remeber right 4 or 5 years ago their was a guy lost up there and he took one the closed rd off to the west on south boundry....I belive he got some tix when all was said and done.......Prayers sent that they find theses two fast....if your in line for the weather we got here now!!!yikes....
I hope they didn't stray far from their sleds. They could at least use them for a source of heat or for help starting a fire.
Id set my sled on fire in a heartbeat if it meant survival. Then id hather all the timber i could and i would have one huge fire. A sled in flames would produce a ton of black smoke. Hope they get found.
GREAT news! There should be some valuable lessons to be learned here after all is said and done...They have been found! They are in good shape being brought into silver city right now
The guys lost have a cabin there and are not "locals". Sounds like a cell phone ping helped reduce the search area. Hope the search crews get to them today.
They have been found! They are in good shape being brought into silver city right now! They will be meeting the ambulance....GREAT NEWS!
Must've been pretty smart guys![]()
