I told my buddy i would help him to put these on. I usually have a buddy do it but he has moved.

I am thinking air compressor ...with a piece of wood so the air-chisel does not hurt the slides, Lube them with WD40 ?

any imput would help....it is going to be the blind leading the blind here.

Thanks,

Steve

Once you have the old ones off just lube them up with WD40 on the slides and rails and just tap them back on with a rawhide mallet or a plastic deadblow hammer. If you don't have either of those just a 2x4 will do. It doesn't take a lot of force to put them back on. The most force will be to get the slides around the curve of the rail. It won't take much to put the new ones back on. It is alot harder to get the old ones off.

once you get them off wipe the rails off with a rag or some steel wool before lubing them up. will proly have dirt and sand on the mounting lip

You can spray d-40 along the edges and it will help get the old ones out. Carefully run your fingers on inside and outside edges to feel for rough spots or damage. I use vise grips to pull mine off once they get started. I save part of the old high fax and gently tap the new ones in place with a piece of the old. Compressor sounds like a bad idea.

One thing I have noticed on the cats, make sure the hyfax goes on stright and smooth, the back edges of the alum. rail tend to cut into the hyfax and will shave it off or cut right through and cause a real problem.

same thing happens with the extra 10 polaris suspensions, i've damaged 2 separate slides but i managed to trim some of the plastic off and put it back on decently

we just changed the slides on my buddies 98 artic cat 600 it was easy! 20 minutes top! Only 1bolt holds the slides in up front. Once you take the bolt out, just take a screw driver and hammer and tap them out the back. My buddy knocked them out and I had a pair of pliers nad was pulling on them to help them come out. Once they were out we layed the old pair by hte new pair and cut them the same length. We then put WD40 and wiped the rail down where they were going and tapped them back in with a rubber mallet. Once they were back in tighten up your bolt and your good to go. They come right out the back of the track without any problems. We did not have to loosen up the track either. Piece of cake!
