Never will happen around Newberry as the local law does not enforce loud sleds if so too many sleds would be gone or not have cans.I would support a law confiscating sleds with “cans” on them (and by “cans” i don’t mean women drivers..lol) if being used on trails.. The future of our sport depends on it..
But or course,...Harleys will be an exception to confiscation.
Same planet, same ears.

Your local law enforcement may not, but MDNR does!!! Some Mi. Co.'s do also.
I have a MBRP can on my 1200 4-stroke. Legal in decibels with a low growl. Only wanted to get lighter----saved 19#
BTW, I was told by the local sheriff that it is still illegal as in WI you cannot alter your sled in any way.
Guess I did it twice as I also have a wrap!

For additional clarification, this is quoted from the WI DNR Snowmobile Laws:
"You cannot modify your snowmobile’s exhaust in any manner that will amplify or increase the total noise emission above that emitted by the snowmobile as originally manufactured, regardless of date of manufacture. Excessive or unusually loud snowmobiles are illegal and hurt Wisconsin’s trail system. Do not increase your exhaust noise or operate with your exhaust system in excess of the sound limits. Wisconsin vigorously enforces the sound limits and penalties can be severe, however the worst thing about a loud snowmobile is that it causes properties to be permanently closed to snowmobile riding."
Tack836 is correct in that in the state of WI, you can modify your snowmobile's exhaust system but you can't make it louder than the stock muffler.
Right you are!!! "Originally manufactured"
Stock OEM exhaust is all about it's been tuned for the Mfr's registered emissions.
The saving weight augment always kills me. I could put #19 on your sled without you knowing it and you could never tell the difference.
