Question for all the club members on here! What do you do to bring younger members to your club? Our club is in the top 15 largest clubs in Wisconsin but the majority of our members are 50+! We have great turn out for all of our many events by members!we would like to attract more youth to our club.

Great question and I'm anxious to hear what others are doing. We have looked at starting a youth club but it's moving slowly. Our county does have a youth club, but we were thinking of making it more localized.
this yr we are charging less for MN snowmobile certification class if u are a member of our club.
got a trail very close to school.at this time kids can not park sleds on school grounds they park about 150 yards away.
now talking with principal of school to get sled parking at school in designated area. but only kids who belong to a MN club can park on school grounds.kind of blackmail but if u can get em in they may stay.
when kids do show at cub meeting I make it a point to talk with them about things I think they relate to like sno x and sled mods boondocking etc.

Got to get kids in the seat and out on a ride. Two rides and they are hooked.
At issue is the cost...couple grand to get started and that's a lot of scratch for most kids.
Make the cost to join reasonable...like in FREE for anyone under 21 years. Then get them on your spare sled and let them see how much fun it is. Mentor them and get them involved in trail brushing and work up a credits thing where the top 10 get two rides for free sort of thing.
Kids are broke...have more important places to spend money and would not like to invest in a sled that can only be ridden 3 months out of the year. They need help.... can your club afford to pickup and maintain 3 or 4 sleds that can be used by kids wondering what all the fuss is about?
What about having your club go directly to a few high schools to talk about the sport, complete with vids and pics of some trips...???
But kids are vital to the industry and sport and we should throw the doors wide open to help others get involved and learn how much fun sledding is. This insures a continued revenue stream so us old f@#$s can strap on our depends, and get a ride in even if we can't go more than a mile or two.

Our crowd is getting gray too! Most are 50ish and older, got a few 40 and under but not really any young members. Kids like to have fun but are short on cash and have school plus experiencing job responsibilities. Some parents that have good relationships with their kids bring them in to activities, but they usually stray to other interests. They may still ride but do not give their time to club functions. We have to find the trigger that would make being a member enjoyable enough to make them want to be there.

Younger crowd today is more interested and focused on FB and "techno" phone communications with instant videos and pics. Thats where their attention is and you can grab 'em and maybe draw more in than some old geezer talkin at a high school doing a Kodak slide show.

yeah not kids showing up around my club.
these kids are showing up with new sleds there buddies have new sleds. go out riding after school stop at a hut with a swarm of new sleds they will all be under 20.
try to get one of these spoiled kids to brush or mark trail good luck.
the only way is let them mark where they cant normally ride there new atv or side by side. then they may do it just so they can tell there buds they went riding in so ans so park.
broke kids going to be a tough sell real tough. cant imagine what letting under age kids ride club owned sleds would do the cost of the club liability policy$$$$$$$$$$.my guess more than all dues for the yr

Slide show...geez Cords...those went out with the crank telephone.....got to step it up with high tech stuff...and what kid wouldn't want to go to a professionally setup presentation of a great snowmo ride produced from a real helmet cam and audio... rather than sit thru geography??
Ez...you must live in a rich area for kids to have new sleds....maybe consider win a new vett goes on the circular you send out to attract those spoiled monsters....on second thought...who needs them anyway...stick with old geezers...more fun and less drama. Discount viagra coupons....celebrex handouts...now there yah got somethin....
