Seems every one calls riding snowmobiles on trails and in the woods a sport. I was just wondering every ones take on this. I personally dont consider it to be a "sport".

I always thought a "sport" was a competition. I guess to some on the trails, it is???

I'd have to say recreational activity with sport involved.

In other words; if you're doing off trail or even trail twisties and jumps, boondocking, etc., and getting a workout...isn't that considered 'sport'? After this weekend mogul adventure I feel like I hit the gym extremely hard lol!

I consider it a sport if I'm riding,
a hobby if I'm wrenching,
and this winter a big waste of a fine machine!

Zero Miles and counting.

I know it is a recreational activity, however we all call it a sport because it is referenced so often as a sport by adds / internet. Examples, dealers with the name power sport, OEM title Yamaha sport snowmobile accessories, Maps of the world (http://www.mapsofworld.com/adventure-sports/snowmobiling.html) reference it as Snowmobiling is one of the few adventure sports.
Anyhoo just habit after awhile.

I love the sport of snowmobiling, even though I treat it as a recreational activity :)

Isn't it a sport if you are on a Team? :)

There are team sports and individual sports . Pro Golfers are individauls and its a sport. I guess it how each person looks at it.
I Snowmobile for recreation,,, but some may race, so to me if you race as a pro its a sport !

Call it anything you want, but I did notice that as I get older it seems more like work--but it sure is dang fun!!!!!! The old body can't recover like it use to anymore, but I'm ok with that.
