Did you do any checking to see if they have a " Plowmans Mount " for the M-sleds ? It is popular among the "F" guys with big powerplants. Just asking since you have went this route , now would be the time to install if there is such a thing. Love the A-arms, should look sharp when your done. Best to do these type of jobs yourself , that way you know it is done right. Hard to get a shop with a guy working on the clock to take the same kind of interest, not to mention the cost.

There is no fancy torque bracket yet for the M / CF sleds yet. Some guys are modding a SP bracket on the mag side for the turbo sleds. Closest thing so far on the M / CF sleds is from Supreme Tool.
Motor mounts and snubber.

I wish there was a torque bracket. The motors move.

Borderstaff, nice work on the sled BTW. It is nice to see a quality rebuild. Pretty impressive project with everyone involved.

Indy, the powdercoating was just over $300. I could have gone with a rattle can but having it done this way is more permanant. The powdercoater did a lot of work getting the parts ready, he degreased everything, sandblasted every nook, and then sanded off some of the gouges on the spindles before coating everything and then baking it all. he was very careful not to get powdercoat anywhere it didn't need to be (i.e. thread holes etc.)

Thanks for the comments guys. I did get the sled much closer to being finished last night and should have it running by Wednesday night. I put the seat on, all the suspension and new skis and installed the skid. I have to add all the fluids, bleed the brakes, add gas, tension the track, grease every part on the sled, finish aligning the skis, install the exhaust and probably a few more things I can't think of now. I plan on it being

Well, your only minutes away - I live in White Bear Lake. I could have used someone in the garage this last weekend to drink my beer and tell me that I was doing it all wrong ;)
Anyhow, the sled is nearing completion. I have pics coming soon.

Here's a pic with the motor back in and I was starting to assemble the front suspension. If you have a really sharp eye you'll catch that the bushing in the suspension are all black. I found a guy in Colorado who frequents Snowest and makes a full bushing set for the M sleds using delrin plastic for the bushings. It is a 32 piece set for $90 (inc. shipping) that replaces bushings in the front, rear and ski areas on these sleds. The stock bushings break often and these should last longer than the life of the sled...and since the sled is being practically reborn that should be another 5-10 years.

And here's the whole front end suspension done with some plastic put on.

Here's the brand new '10 cat seat and adjustable height handlebars.

The skid is all reassembled. Doesn't the powdercoating look sweet? Now, you may be saying "who'll ever see the skid". Well, the way we ride our toys they spend just as much time on their sides or upside down as they do any other position ;) I didn't bother fixing all the rust on the springs because that part is pretty well hidden - even when the sled is upside down.

Sled's looking good and getting it done just in time. Powdercoating is the way to go. Now, if you need parts for that Ford in the background I have a few laying around.

Nice progress. Big stuff is done, rest should be easy. Interesting to see how the bushings hold up over time.

I have to ask, why is the truck on dollies?

Looks good man. Hopefully everything holds up o.k. I would do a double check on everything to make sure it's nice and tight. Looks like some quality bonding time with the wife!

Looks good Indy! You have a lot nicer sled than the 1982 Moto-Ski Mirage 2 that I bombed around with when I was your age. I did get new skis for the M8 - I'll try to post more pics tonight - it is pretty much finished after a late night last night.

I may need parts in the future. I have another 1977 Ford outside the garage door. Its an extend cab 2wd that I'm going to take the 4wd off the regular cab in the garage and convert the 2wd into a 4wd during the restoration. I know there's easier ways to do it (like find an extended cab 4X4 chassis), but the frame on the truck outside is very clean and I don't have much invested into both trucks. And it'll be a learning experience.

Favoritos, the dollies are under the tires because I removed and sold the motor. And, outside the front door is a 10" drop where I haven't yet installed a driveway so I couldn't roll the truck out the door and where I needed it. The dollies were $110 with shipping and I think they'll be nice to have in the future with all the projects I will eventually run through the garage. The delrin bushings are very popular for the M-sleds with people who've done similar projects. I've even heard of guys who will take the old bushings out of damaged arms and reinstall them in new arms with no problems.

Joks79 - pm'd you the bushing info.

Vic, thanks for the advice. I've re-checked every bolt at least twice and spent about 1 hour last night crawling all over the sled looking for things I missed.
