Some interesting news/questions that Indy has.

So if you park your car at Wal-Mart, the police can open it up and go through all of your stuff just because it is in a public place?

Is that what you are saying?

Yeah, they are the people that keep our country in order and they should be able to do whatever they see fit!

so it could be the difference of parking your car on the road vs. your driveway where 1 they can search whatever and the other they can't? i just don't understand

well on the side of the road in a neighborhood is public right? and moving it 10 feet into your driveway is private....? so i don't know, i guess it just blows my mind. but really, shouldn't they properly put these back on? kids took off with their hoods bouncing. the not registering and not getting a ticket is a whole different thing, i don't understand that either.

Law enforcement does not put things back together OR clean up. If you drive through the border into Canada or Mexico and are suspected of carrying drugs, they can take your vehicle completely apart if they want, and will leave it in a big, disassembled pile. By not cleaning, I'm referring to murder scenes for instance. Once they are done investigating and collecting evidence and samples, they leave and that's it. Not latching hoods is obviously a polar opposite of this extreme, but it would not surprise me at all that they wouldn't do it.

timmay75..

you r right. In 2002 went to Timmons Canada for a couple of weeks of sleddin' only to have my enclosed trailer torn apart by customs. I told them everything that was in there and they still didn't believe me. It took me and my LW 30 mins.to rearange the cargo. They[custom agents] can be quite a handfull! One agent was so nice he told us that we had a nice trailer. My wife told him where he could go! [now settle down sweety]. Government workers get bored easily and need a good laugh occationally,,so they disrupt a nice couple travels.

DNR are about as close as you get to "Above the law"... The Police only have to follow more procedures before they check your stuff... I always laugh when they ask if they can check the car on those cop shows... Like No is gonna stop em...

I thought they had to have a search warrant for something on your property but in public they can search whatever!?

Were you born in America? It scares me when people don't know their rights. Nothing against you, you're probably a victim of the brainwashing campaign our government has been doing for quite a few decades.

Indy, the first thing I would do is get in touch with the Polar Bear riders and ask them what is going on as far as the trail is concerned, second I would see what the school administration is up to regarding this issue. You need to know all the facts before you get too worked up. As far as the DNR checking sleds, anybody who has seen my posts knows how I feel about that crap! I am from that area and used to ride my sled daily to the same school, I have also watched the area grow over the last 20 years. Know this, you HAVE rights, and as long as your not breaking any laws, your good to go.

Indy, I'm just down the road from you and often ride the Hortonville area. Two thoughts to share if you don't mind my 2 cents....

Registration of snowmobiles is required in Wisconsin. That money helps support our trails system and clubs. The DNR is responsible for enforcing this.

Law Enforcement needs Probable Cause to open a hood. They may have had Noise Complaints in that area and were looking at exhausts.

As to the second point, the Hortonville & Greenville areas are known as Bedroom Communities a.k.a. Urban Sprawl. A lot of people have put up some very expensive homes out there "to live in the country" and they may not appreciate the noise, regardless as to who was there first. These are the same people that may complain about the odor from neighboring farms! I know a family that live next to the Wiouwash Trail out there with a low regard for anything snowmobile related due to the noise and speed associated with our sport.

I didn't mean to preach here but I've been riding for a long, long time. One of the many lessons I learned over time is that if you're riding anywhere near a town or urban area, you need to watch your speed and noise to avoid issues like you've described.

By the way, what's the name of the place in Hortonville that serves the enormous slab of Prime Rib? I've gotta get back there...

either black otter horton inn or the country club
