spring garbage in the woods

We were riding the Kingston Plains Saturday and I was amazed at how many beer cans were laying on the ground in many places in the park. On top of hills, campgrounds, next to trail signs. How disgusting. If you were able to bring your beer out there why is it so hard to take them with you?? We filled two plastic grocery bags of crushed cans. i think I will go back next weekend to get more. My kid could use the recycle money anyway.

What kills me is at least half the people you see doing that will tell you that they love the area because of how beautiful it is.

Thanks for taking the initiative to fill bags and take it out. Most every time we go camping we bring out more trash than we generate.

Thanks for picking up after those that lack common sense! I just don't get what is wrong with some people. :(

I walked on a golf course near the end of the day with my son. Course is mixed in a high end neighborhood. Couldn't believe all the beer cans and trash in the wood sections. So it must not be just snowmobilers that are idiots. Maybe Michigan's 10 cent deposit is a good idea after all. Two of my brothers in Michigan live there and I always make fun of that, but it might slow down the litter of cans at least.

Good job,..how many cat belts did you find?

Them off trail guys are pigs.

What a great teachable moment for your kid.

If you get a chance to ride with a group from IL....just remember....the skinny guy with the large pocketed oversized coat is carrying the thirty pak.

The wife and I did the same thing on trail 109 the last weekend in march. Good to see there are others out there that want to keep the areas we all enjoy so much looking like it did before we were there. We have enough things going against us don't need to give the tree huggers more ammunition.

I always have trash bags with me on my atv when we ride anywhere is Wisconsin or Michigan. I may not be able to come up and help the clubs get trails ready or anything, but I do what I can when I make it up there to help keep trails open and free of garbage/crap. If I see a piece of trash in the middle of the trail as I'm approaching, I stop and pick it up.

A lot of people seem to think its ok in MI because of the 10 cent deposit. Like you are doing some one a favor by leaving your uncrushed cans.
I think this is where the deposit model back fires in a way. Even when road trippin in the car. Throw the can out on side of road rather than get caught with it in car. Some one will pick it up that needs the $. Thats the attitude up here for the most part. I crush every can for storage space. My Viper trunk gets stuffed pretty full because I am not just collecting my own. Yesterday out in the plains you can find cans every where. The snow is melting and exposing all of the treasure. You just cant fix stupid. Just keep picking them up and pat your self on the back. All you can do....

to be clear - Old Viper 2003
I bet more than a case. Never counted. Pull it in garage and empty in to trash. I count once next year.

Not drinking???? Good luck with that. I know its not PC but when drinking is your main hobby, it seems to mix with the other hobbies you get involved in.
I think drinking is the #1 hobby in the UP. At least the rift raft I hang around ;) Don't want to stereo type and get scolded.

Anybody find my full unopened bottle of orange power aid zero? Lost on Trail 8 or 15 in March & I had to divert to Tall Pines in Amasaw to buy another bottle. lol:)

The dumb a$$ rider forgot to zip his bag & full bottle of zero was launched. Got warm on the trail that day had all vents unzipped with bright sun riding south. :)
