Surgery for My Daughter

Well went to Madison yesterday for a follow-up with the surgeon and he said he "couldn't be happier"! She is back to the normal like of a 19 year old, sleeping in, telling her dad what she thinks, and staying up late. Best part of all is no seizures so far. Hope that continues for another 6 months or so then maybe we'll start decreasing her medications and see if she can manage without them.

Thanks again everyone, hope I can give you all another positive update at the ride-in this winter.

Excellent news Gary! The medical community takes its share of criticism but the fact is, they do some incredible things.

"Telling her dad what she thinks" - pretty funny, but would you have it any other way?

Thanks for the update and happy 4th!

I know this is an old post, but it was a year ago today that Bethany had brain surgery and we are thankful for the outcome to date and I wanted to post an update.

Obviously things went well that day and right after. She has continued to do great and has not had a seizure since. Before the surgery she was on 3 seizure control medications, since then we have eliminated one completely and within the next 2 weeks the second one will be completely eliminated. If she continues to be seizure free we will begin to eliminate the last one in about 6 months.

She continues to live the life of a normal now 20 year old, and because she has been seizure free she has been able to get her drivers permit and expects to have her license by the end of the year.

Thanks again to all of you for the support both online, and in person over the past year.

I mentioned it last year. Last year's father's day had to be special but this year had to be even better.
