Cat might have to move up their engine production a couple years, and do it quickly.

Some more info:

And this from the Star Tribune in Minneapolis:

Snowmobiles should be OK

Arctic Cat Inc. gets engines for its snowmobiles from Suzuki Motor Corp., but is not affected by the temporary shutdown of the Japanese manufacturer. The Thief River Falls-based recreational vehicle manufacturer already has wrapped up snowmobile production for the the 2011 model year, said spokeswoman Shawn Brumbaugh.

No damage to Suzuki but they have shut down until March 22nd. They also donated 30 million Yen through the Red Cross. We've also been told that the shut down will not affect are current bike and ATV orders for this spring.

Nuclear radiated sled motors....no mold will grow on those puppies. Puts a new meaning of "death wish" on riding sleds.

While the 2011 sleds and atv's are done....might be washing around in salt water eh? The real question is for the 2012 stuff.....what's gunna happen there???

Cat should talk to Mercury Marine. Merc makes a DI two stroke for their outboards with the Optimax. Put an Optimax into a snowmobile. Cat is in that position to do it IMO.

I was just told there will not be any new honda atv's this summer , anyone else here this ?

If I were to hazzard a guess on this, it would be that those parts are already here, and that most of those units are already made and boxed...if not delivered.

or at least cranks from doo and ecu and injectors from poo to keep a level playing field smiley face

No way. Doo cranks need work. They need to get rid of those sealed bearings and that isoflex grease. Doo and Rotax engines are the only manufacturers that have this crank design and it is really a ticking time bomb especially with their new DI two strokes. They use so little oil because of the computer system that its a lean issue on these cranks. Cranks get hot and over time the grease loses its viscosity because of the heat, the seals blow and then runs lean and melts down.

he was meaning that they suck, along with the injection system on poo 800's...
