I just picked up 2 new Honda foreman rubicons, always rode Polaris, but I didn't want belt transmissions. I think the Honda is far better, pioneer uses same trans set up I believe, low speed, hauling, trail riding been great so far.
Simply put, if you know the quality of the build of military vehicles & the a-typical build of your average side by side, this vehicle is well built, in my estimation, military grade, drive train to frame.-Mezz
I got a wildcat trail in December so far a pile of crap . been in shop getting trans rebuilt for some time now. but hey what do you expect it has 100 mi on it .
kymco/cat no textron in those
When Textron first started working on the Stampede’s development, engineers knew they needed an engine. Rather than going out and sourcing and engine, they went out and bought the entire engine company – Weber. Weber was a highly regarded German engine company and now, as part of Textron, it is doing some pretty cool things. The Stampede is powered by an 80 hp 846cc twin that is everything you’d expect from a German-engineered motor.
weber
846cc Liquid-Cooled 4-Stroke, Twin Cylinder Single Overhead Cam
arctic cat HDX
695, SOHC, 4-Stroke, 4-Valve w/EFI Single Cylinder
always choose EFI....cat has real EFI....my 2c
Now that Textron owns Weber, I would guess that in the future, they will engineer, and build their own engines exactly to their specific needs, from the ground up, designed with, and for the chassis involved. Sleds included. That explains Textron's wanting AC's engine production program. No more need to buy, and shoehorn engines. I see a bright future for AC if this takes place.
if they are progressive they will now latch onto the Yamaha engine connection they are in bed with.
OK, cool.....Textron is as dumb as your statement, and gawd bless the germans....LOL...just a licence holder....nothing else to do with it?....LOL that is dumb....what will the thunder kitty be running for a motor in 2020...a 750 turdo?why? they now own cats pretty new motor manufacturing plant and webber . they are deep stacked with engineers all over the globe . Yamaha they do not need them at all back I don't think Yamaha is even building the turbo sled motor just a licence holder for it
I have 2 Wildcat Trails, a 2014 with over 3000 miles and a 2016 with about 1500. No issues what so ever. Would buy another in a heart beat. Most trans issues I've heard of is the parking pawl breaking due to owners trailering them in park.
Textron is using the Yamaha tripple na in the Wildcat XX. With turbo to come later. They are using the Weber motor that has been reworked for more HP in the Havoc X.
Wildcat Trails, sports, X and XX are all sport side x side's. The Havoc X is a crossover like the Polaris General.
They are quite a versatile company & one that does nothing half azzed, they have their hands into many things. Here is a little of what they are about. http://www.textronoffroad.com/about/press-room/3-6-2017/textron-inc-announces-acquisition-arctic-cat-inc-leading-company -Mezz
good info. Is the wildcat XX the same chassis as the Yam YXZ?

the yammi turbo is a turd if you really want to go fast.
the old zuk is a better built motor for making fast.
and guess who designed it it was not zuk .cat still has engineers who know what they are doing .they nor textron need a motor supplier they own motor plants all around the globe . only reason they are using the yammi now is it was a quick ez reasonable deal with yammi not wanting to build sleds any longer but not wanting to totaly screw there dealers.
